It didn't matter. He may have been looking out of place, but he wasn't committing a crime and they did ask him what he was doing. Unless they hauled in a bunch more officers to escort the guy to another building (right before the concert lets out when they'd be needed most) they couldn't have done a thing about. That loser was going to detonate that bomb that night. He wasn't being that suspicious either. In the US every other person out after dark looks half looney. It's easy for us to look back with 20/20 hindsight, knowing exactly what is about to happen, and pass judgements. But absolutely nobody saw what that man was up to that night, nor were they expected to. They were not prepared in any way for a terrorist attack. They were prepared for crowd control and maybe some loud singing at a children's concert. To blame anyone outside of the perp in this case is equivalent to blaming the concert goers themselves. Unfair assessment.

I’ve watched ACSIS control/ bag check security before at stadiums and we have a supe with us making sure we check every bag- usually it’s just to make sure the stadium gets it’s alcohol profit because people try to slip in liquor in a bag like idiots. I’ve also worked for my country’s airline where I’ve been paid to “smuggle” fake bombs through airport security, and every time they spotted the issue as I continued walking on and they were approached by their supervisor who put me in the line. This. Is. Avoidable. What needs to be done is stadiums need to actually staff correctly so they can have five or six guards just for bags and two or four for pat downs, and they need electronic scanning equipment.

The police and security officers need greater powers. I wouldnt care if I look suspicious because I often carry a large backpack and they wished to search it. The public have a right to be protected and if I have to lose a little bit of privacy or time to aid with that then I am all for it. Everyone should be able to enjoy a night out and return home safely. IF we werent so worried about racism and offending people there would be 23 more people enjoying life instead of a load of grieving families

please explain what greater powers the police and security officers needed in this situation, again please be specific.
@geoffreyjohnstone5465 Жыл бұрын
@@cliveramsbotty6077 They need to be able to stop and search every person. The venue should have opened earlier and every person that entered should have been thoroughly searched before being allowed to enter. But it should go further than that. They should have the authority to stop and search anybody, anywhere. How many lives could be saved if that was the case? I dont care about my right to privacy when compared to the rights of everyone being safe. If I go to a football or cricket match and have a bag or backpack, I EXPECT it to be examined. Random checks should be allowed everywhere, even on the streets, train stations, shops etc. It takes but 30 seconds. I would also have more CCTV and more people monitoring suspicious activity. The loss of life at any public event is tragic and to ensure it never happens again, or at least reduce the risk, then give the police and security personnel the right to search everyone without even the need for suspicion. Perhaps the police and security officers need better training but whatever it is, the public need protection so something like this never happens again

It's simple, each person who enters the concert has a bracelet of a different color, the bracelet of a certain color comes out first, then the other color and the other color to prevent people from crowding. Then metal detector for each person who wants to enter to wait for someone and guards monitoring inside and outside the place.
