Since there aren’t really that many good comments here, let me Leave one. Welcome to Islam! To all the people hating on a religion they know nothing about I hope you can take the time to learn what this religion truly preaches and not what you’ve heard about it.. Islam is a religion that prohibits the consumption of alcohol/ pork. So Islam has very much provided a foundation for a better lifestyle.. which she has adopted. It takes serious guts to leave behind a life like this.. and she’s at peace because of it. What an inspiring story! (No disrespect to anyone with my comment)

Ignorance and negative comments from the uneducated and small minded individuals. People find peace and security their own way. Islam is about peace, hence why it’s the fastest growing religion. The small group of people who choose to interpret religion in their own way to harm others should not be represented for the majority of any religion. Good and bad in all religions.

There are multiple stories of people who have called on their god and their life has changed for the better. Christians say this, Mormons say this, Scientologists say this, Buddhists say this, your experience is not unique to the god you believe in. The one thing each of these stories of life-changing experiences have in common is not the same god, but it's that they've all had COMMUNITY SUPPORT. It's not surprising that when a collective gets together to assist other's in that collective, humans tend to thrive better. So perhaps it wasn't your god who changed you, but your belief in a god which other humans who helped you shared in that belief.

I'm now much healthier mentally, although I haven't yet managed to completely throw off the chains of Christian dogma. For me, this has looked like not dating or remarrying. Now, at least, I realize it's highly unlikely I will ever marry again, but by choice. I would love to hear your story and see one like you and I have represented here.
