Thanks for sharing your story. I'm also HIV+. i was diagnosed 8 years ago at the age of 18. At the time it was a huge trauma for me. However, as I learned more about the virus and adjusted to live with it, as well as being on my medication, I came to understand that the scariest thing about the virus is the stigma and the lack of understanding. These days, having access to medicaiton, makes having HIV just a minor inconvenience for me. We're lucky to be living in a time when it is so treatable.

I’m just looking at my homie, I’m like something ain’t right, I can tell in his eyes he’s going through a fight, popping pills left and right he out there every night, it’s like it’s only getting dark, it’s hard to see the light 🙏🏾 That one mistake is all it takes. That one quick hook up with that jezzabel could be your fate, you’d rather the news be that she’s pregnant and keeping the baby but instead she called to say she you gave you the human rabies 🙏🏾 You were an atheist but now you look up to the sky and ask God why, what did you do to deserve this, you preaching for a second chance at life. God doesn’t give man more than he can handle, maybe you were going too fast and he sent you a sign to calm down or maybe he saw your bad deed and casted the disease that bought you to your knees, that you’re begging please and hoping it’s a bad dream🙏🏾

Robert Ward could not be farther from the truth. Shaming your fellow human and using religion as your support is so wrong on your part. Humans created religion as a coping mechanism and to create rules so that everyone can be the same and be controlled. This was not a punishment. It was a cause and effect situation. I am sending him all my love and support and he is brave for speaking out about it and sharing his story.

Sadly loads of the 'more mature 'community are still making this mistake. A nurse shared with us this 65 year old wasn't feeling well but the cough wouldn't leave her after several antibiotics, The doctor asked the nurse to ask her if she would consent to a hiv test which to these young nurses came as a shock 🤔 the test came back positive , those nurses most in there late 20's couldn't phantom that. So the knowledge is for EVERYONE , because of the lifestyle people are living their will soon if not already have hiv dating sites , people who dont have aids will be on it looking for a partner,I heard a guy said 'could as might as well catch it now medications are better' I thought what a sad man.

As long as you take the medication you will become undetectable and will not ever be able to pass the virus on to someone negative as you don't have enough of the virus in your viral load it only spreads from those newly infected , don't know they're positive because they've not had a std test or had a std check and got a negative first time thinking they're negative only for a few months later another test positive as it can takes weeks to months for it to incubate and show up on a test and not on treatment and have a large amount of the virus in viral load and even though there's 3 stages of HIV before the 4th and final stage which is AIDS with the treatment sooner rather than later noone ever reaches to the later stages thank god

It doesn't always come down to unprotected sex. My uncle was a paramedic had to use a needle on a patient who was HIV positive in a moving ambulance withdrew the needle and it slipped into him then boom ended up HIV positive and died before I was born. But this day and age there's measures that can be taken which includes prep also once someone with hiv becomes undetectable they can no longer pass the virus on due to the fact they do not have enough of the virus in their viral load the only time it can be passed on to someone is if someone is newly infected/ thinks they're negative when they're positive and hasn't had a STD screening ( which is quite a lot of people never have a STD screening which sexual health clinics recommend being tested every 3-6 months )or is not on treatment as they have huge amounts of the virus in their viral load and if you ever think you've had sex etc with someone whos HIV positive detectable go straight to the clinic they'll put you on a month supply of pills aslong as it is within the first 72 hours

I am amazed by people who are in high risk categories doing high risk acts being shocked by a positive HIV result. I understand being afraid 😨, but I don't understand being shocked. Not judging just wondering. I hear of people meeting folk on tender and grinder and catching HIV after multiple unprotected acts. Now when I took the tests I was SCARED of a + result but not shocked because I knew the risks I had taken.

The finger prick test has a smaller window of detection, compared to the blood test from the arm. So as the virus was contacted within the past few weeks, the finger prick test didn't show it yet. Also, I believe that the arm blood test checks for antibodies which the simple finger prick test doesn't (meaning it picks up recent diagnoses more easily). Finger prick tests are great as a quick, easy way of testing someone who has never been tested/hasn't tested in a long time. A more accurate blood test is useful in picking up new diagnoses and to check viral load - sometimes as an indicator of how long ago the virus was contracted. Hope that helps!

@fraxinus_ash5 жыл бұрын
Presumably the fingerprick test is an instant test with limitations that can only detect a certain amount of viral load. And then they do the traditional blood test, which takes longer but is way more accurate.
@marcomartinez25675 жыл бұрын
@@fraxinus_ash so what's the point on having the finger blood test ? As far as I know you only have the arm blood test when you got positive on the finger one for confirmation, quick HIV test is pretty accurate, so that's the part is not sinking in to me.
@fraxinus_ash5 жыл бұрын
@@marcomartinez2567 because it's really accurate after a certain amount of time after exposure. Some people might know exactly when they were exposed and so it could be conclusive but others may not be so sure, so may have a follow up blood test.
@tannermuncey33795 жыл бұрын
Now. They have a fingerprick test that are just as accurate as traditional testing. The fingerprick test that the CDC approves tests for HIV antibodies and antigen. The antigen can be detected much earlier than the the antibodies which is why the CDC recommends you using that fingerprint test instead of the the fingerprick test that just tests for antibodies. It's important to distinguish the difference now.
@tannermuncey33795 жыл бұрын
The new CDC approved fingerprick test can detect HIV anti-gens 2-4 weeks after infection. And it just came out recently. The treatment and testing options for HIV are improving RAPIDLY, no pun intended. It is estimated that we will have a cure and vaccine for HIV in 2030!
