I just realized something. Oshida and Andou's feud could also be a reference to the feud between the Northern French /Oshida/ and the Southern French /Andou/. The Northern French seem more closely aligned with Scandinavian peoples while the Southern French seem more closely aligned with peoples like the Italians and Spanish who're tanned like Andou is. Naturally, there's going to be friction between the two types of French.

BC, isnt it something with that BC Freedom High School was two schools on their own school carriers before? I think I had read that in the wiki. I had always thought that the feud was because of those two school merged together. On the other note, I wonder if their over all TC (Cant remember her name, the one sitting on the Renault FT) is eating cake petty much all the time

The one eating cake all the time is named Marie. Yeah, BC Freedom is two schools that were merged into one single school to cut costs in operating the school ships. In the manga, one school represented Vichy France while the other represented Free France. In the anime though, the two feuding factions are based on social classes in France during the French Revolution.

BC High School's schoolship design is based on the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, while Freedom's one is based on a French aircraft carrier cancelled project called PA2 (Porte-Avions 2 French for Aircraft Carrier 2) and was known to have vineyards dominating almost all the schoolship. In the manga, the divide is an allegory for political divide between Free France and Vichy France (1940 to 1942), represented by the Freedom Faction the and BC Faction respectively. In the film, the divide is an allegory for the social divide between the peasant class and the nobility of the French Revolution (1789 to 1999), represented by the Examination Class and the Escalator Class respectively. Oshida, Andou, and Marie are the primary characters. Significantly different from their manga counterpart is that while their social divide is severe, their leader Marie (she is sitting on the Renault FT)) is shown to have decent control over the student body.

I never really got why Ooarai was surprised that BC prepared for them spying, they literally spied on 4 other schools and had Yukari carrying the espionage all 4 times. How did they not expect that the other schools would catch on to that?

I'd always thought that the infighting Yukari filmed was real but that BC Freedom understood that the other schools knew of their internal problems and opted to play them up in public to cause their enemies to underestimate them in matches only to be surprised by their teamwork skills.

Best scene in this WHOLE AMV is when the ww1 tank goes vertical, the lead tank uses it as a ramp to get off the bridge and the girl from the ww1 tank gets out IN HEAVY GUNFIRE WITHOUT PROTECTIONWHAT SO EVER, rips the flag pole from her tank and just stands there as tge other tank drives down while tge bridge explodes...... The most bad ass soldier I've ever seen is a Japanese highschool student who thinks she's Black Beard The Pirate that does shots in the bowls of a battleship that has been converted into a highschool and town..... 10 outta 10......

I just saw the movie todays and.... SPOILER Can somebody explain to me how after laying such a great trap, they didn't manage to take down a single tank ??!!! So basically, BC Freedom was beaten by brute force. That must've been hard for them to swallow, to have this cunning trap set up only for it to fail because they couldn't kill their prey. Oarai fell prey to the same problem in their practice match against St Gloriana, they set up a trap but St Gloriana countered it.

Not to be mean or anything but I prefer maginot girls academy because it reminds me of pre war France and the patriotic fervor it instilled in the old guard (like generals and politicians)which tried to prolong France in 1940 but not the citizens. But it must match the speed of the tanks, relief, etc. Although it is possible to complain about everything. As far as I remember, this tactic worked during the 63rd National High School Sensha-Dō Tournament...Against Anzio. but....but here was Maginot mistake. Despite having materiel superiority to Anzio, Maginot fall in their trap by taking pursuit of CV.33 leaving the flag tank at the mercy of Semovente, when they realize their mistake they tried to back-up their flag tank but it was too late. They were eliminated in the first round. And several matchs (the last in date (if i'm not wrong) was against Saunders University High School) Maginot proved this awesome tactic incompatible with French tanks... due to tanks reduced crew members (in R35 & FT17 the commander is alone in the turret and have to assumed the role of commander, radio operator (if the tank has a radio), loader and gunner), great-great lack of speed (Maginot's tanks don't pass the 40 km/h top speed) or ever-present tensions among the team....
