put weapons lube on your flashlight lense. when carbon builds up you can just wipe it off and re apply. keeps your lense crystal clear.

OAL is measured from the end of the buffer tube to the end of the barrel. The end of the barrel does not include the muzzle device if it’s not pinned.

Question. I'm about to build an ar pistol. I'm hearing you cant run a foregrip on an ar pistol. How is his legally an ar pistol.
@desertpinoy5616
@desertpinoy5616 4 жыл бұрын
144 he said that he had a 12.5 inch barrel if you measure from buffer tube to barrel(without flash hider) he would exceed 26 inches OAL. Now if you can’t do that then I would tac-weld a 10.5 inch upper that way it is permanently attached to the barrel of course you can change the brake into a longer on if you want to and weld it to make it longer. That’s what I’m probably gonna do and put an echo trigger and have my version of the military arms channel” NFA Nutkicker “.

I was shocked when i saw your build because mine looks exactly the same… down to the inch or two of exposed barrel. Im running 12” barrel (including pinned a2 muzzle) with 10” Quad Rail ris. And the gunfighter mod 3 vertical. Gotta love it man. 12.5” is definitely the “do it all” length. Sounds like you might want to grease up your charging handle though. Youll remove that scratching noise and it will be much smoother in and out.

I built roughly the same pistol. MK2 upper. BCM ambi charging handle. And BCG. Since I don't own a suppressor. I put a 6315 bird cage from Forward Controls on it. I always run a Sprinco extractor spring. The lower is a A5 from BCM. LAW folder. I'm a huge fan of the A5. Green Spring, AH5A2 and Bad Saftey. Stock trigger. Surefire and a old Aimpoint Pro I have on a Wilcox mount. Oh and same brace you have.

Safeties, the Radian is nice, but the FCD/SOLGW: Q50-Long/L+Short/R is King. Ultra Crisp & positive feel(both a tactile & audible). Swapping the Magpul pros for an Arisaka 35/45 offset mount w/HE508T or HE509T would allow you to run LPVO @Max Magnification & snap back/forth vs having to dial down, locate target, dial up & engage. If you don’t have any issues with bolt catch or desire a larger surface area your likely gtg. As overall it’s a nice set up.

It mounts directly to the light and runs between your side and top picatinny rail.

The OAL of a AR-15 type weapon is measured from the end of the buffer tube (with the brace off) to the front of the threaded part of the barrel unless the muzzle device is permanently attached (pin and welded) then it can be included in the OAL measurement. This measurement must exceed 26” in order for a person to put a vertical fore grip on the rail.

When shooting standing, unsupported, light triggers become more and more important. I would never run a milspec trigger in an AR pistol. That includes the BCM PNT and the ALG ACT. If you want to hit quickly and accurately while standing, get something 3.5lbs or lighter. However, you have given me an idea for my 12.5 BCM AR pistol. I have a green MRO. It's horrible. The battery life alone should rule it out of anyone's list. I may have to finally get an accupoint. I think it's appropriate for the 12.5" and shorter pistols.

@@bluegunner4719 It's my favorite LPVO. I have 2 of them. The red definitely works better for my eyes . I had green triangle and didn't like it . Luckily I was able to swap it out for the red . Trijicon Accupoint , and ACOG are my go too

I am very interested in accuracy at 100yd with Milspec ammo (M193/M855) and with any ammo that the rifle loves. I am also interested in what it can do at 400, 500, 600 yds. How is the recoil impulse on a 12.5 with a 7" gas system? How do you like the BCM?

So if I’m getting this right... when I build my ar pistol if it is longer than 26 inches I am good to put a vertical foregrip on it without having to pay any kind of tax stamp?
@bluegunner4719
@bluegunner4719 4 жыл бұрын
Correct. However make sure you measure from the end of your buffer tube to the end of your muzzle device. If you have a folding brace, you have to start your measurement from the folding device to the muzzle device. And if your muzzle device is not pinned, the measurement has to be stopped at the tip of the barrel. Mrgunsngear has a lot of great videos about this specifically.

Is this actually a pistol? I think this combo likely measures >26” which is the upper limit for pistol. It should likely be considered a “firearm” as long as there is never a butt stock attached (buttstock = SBR)

@SkepticalTiger
@SkepticalTiger Жыл бұрын
Not the OP, but I like it a bit better than the SBA3. TXREX Arms makes a good point that the QD location is a bit easier to work with. OAL for this is without the brace since it's an accessory not required for function of the firearm.

Isnt the measurement to be taken with the brace off from the end of the receiver extension to the muzzle end of barrel as the brace serves no function of the firearm? What is the length from the end of the receiver extension with the sba4 brace removed?
@bluegunner4719
@bluegunner4719 4 жыл бұрын
You are correct. But the brace is close to flush with the extension with it fully collapsed. I haven’t measured without the brace off, but I doubt it will bring it below the minimum 26”. Either way, my grip isn’t quite vertical so I’m not too worried.

You said that you were running a magpul angled forgrip but that’s a BCM vertical grip... although you are in clear because a 12.5 will be 26” OAL, putting that grip on a 10.5 for example would be a no go. BCM themselves sell and advertise that product as a vertical grip if you look it up. Personally I wouldn’t care and run whatever I want because the ATF is BS but I also wouldn’t record my self breaking the law and upload it onto the internet

It sounds like those reloads or some are out of spec. I had this issue with my build thinking something was wrong with it. Until my gunsmith and I Measure the actual casings. The barrel head space was fine. I found out even manufactured ammo is not all to extract spec.

Not enough dwell time on a 12.5 for a mid length gas system. Yes some people make it but that is why the big name companies do not.
