When using any clamp on your build. I use 3M blue tape and put it on my receiver to protect against it getting Mar or damage. So far never had any issues.

Mine just came in and it only cost $55 great product just had a light scratch that will come off with a little Lube and the barrel installation is going to be tough because it is a tight fit

Are most forged uppers all equal to eachother? Does BCM actually make a better upper than a psa?

Thanks for passing on this info bro! I just got my BCM blem stripped upper with included dust cover and forward assist in the mail today(got it for 59.95 as that is what it's going for now gotta love that price!) and I noticed it was chalky as hell as you put it, an doesn't match my shiny aero lower and I came to the internets to see if this was a blem thing or just how BCM makes their parts as I'm new to this. Anyway I will try giving it a little oil action and see if that doesn't help get rid of some of that chalky as helledness... Not that it really matters, I like my stuff to look cool but at the end of the day as long as it's quality and fits and works well(it mates with the aero lower like a glove(not OJ glove) ) I'm happy. But if it can look great too I'm all for that as well because if it doesn't look cool, I mean what are you really doing;)... But thanks also for the cheap ebay block tip as well because you already know I have one of those on deck waiting until I get a barrel and rail so I will be using some thin cloth to protect the finish of the upper... I'm glad I came to your video because I doubt anywhere else on the internet mentions this little tidbit of information and I would have learned the hard way if it was not for you and your video. But thanks man you answered all my questions that I had, and didn't even know I had about my new upper all in this awesome vid, I appreciate you you are the real MVP my dude!!! UPDATE: The oil on the upper worked like a charm, now it matches my lower you are the real MVP like I said lol.

I found your vid cuz bcm is selling blems for $59 right now.i ordered 4 and got free shipping too...everything you said about the vise blocks is identical to my experience.it left marks on my aero upper and I bet I can guess how you got that gauge on the shell deflector 😆 The design of the blocks allows the deflector to stick out enough that when u clamp the vice down and don’t have the block far enough back it crushes the deflector.I was annoyed when it happened

hey did the eBay block teeter totter. is it supposed to? it doesn't close all the way. are you suppose to clamp it super hard for it to close all the way?

Voeun Savothy you don't need to clamp it super tight ...your only using it as a barrier between the vise jaws and your upper. If you want to clamp it tightly ... I would suggest a shop towel wrapped around the upper so the jig fits tighter

Voeun Savothy I would also not suggest clamping it till it closes all the way. There's no need. You should only be using it to keep the upper from rotating while torquing down your barrel nut.

The Blem upper I grabbed had less cosmetic damage done to them than non-blem uppers I got from other companies. No reason not to go for one of these.
