I have fished kokanee on Kootenay and Arrow lakes in the past and we always had success with pink maggots and Apex Kokanee Killer lures with 4 lb downrigger weight and planner board releases.

@@BCOutdoorsSportFishingTV I am in the process of arranging a trip to the inter lakes this summer. I spent many a fishing day there as a kid from the 1950"s to 2002 .I have fished most of the fly fishing lakes in the area. We had property on Green lake so lots of day trips to fish in the area.

@@BCOutdoorsSportFishingTV Back in the late 60's they put coho in there and we did catch some but 83 mile creek dried up in the early 70's and the spawning channel closed. I caught as a kid in the 60's and early 70's some really nice rainbow 5 to 10 lbs they looked just like steelhead. then the lake dropped 10 feet and the fishing died off, then in the 80's we started to catch a lot of 5 lb rainbows. They are silver fish and fight really hard but taste like mud so I just stopped catching them and went fly fishing in all the inter lakes. now I see they planted Kokanne again. I can tell you that the last year before we sold our land there(my dad died) I printed fish on my Lowrance fish finder like I have never seen before. Max depth of the lake is 110 feet most is 50 ft or less. It would be worth a try again but use large flashers and we used large cherry bobber lures (spun and glow) from Yakima bait I don't know if we can still get them here in BC .Green Lake is like Kootenay lake it takes many hours to catch one of those silver rainbows but worth it when you do. Try fishing between what we called Ant Island and Mount Jack on the south side west end of the lake that is also the deepest spot at 110 feet in a high water year.

@@bruced1429 Awesome! Thanks so much Bruce! Mike has a cabin up in the Cariboo and the BCOSF production team (myself and my husband) has one on Green Lake. We've tried for years to catch something with no luck, but will head out to where you suggest this Summer and try our luck over by Ant Island, we know the one! I'll let you know if we have any luck! Thanks again!! -BCOSF Admin, Josey

Was that a treble hook on the old lure?

Hey Buck! Yes, Mike Ramsey had some older favourite lures he used on this episode. Treble hooks are legal in certain bodies of water here in BC. Great reminder to read the fishing regulations before you fish.
