Ruth Lake gave up some nice kokanee on this adventure. Normally, kokanee fishing can be tough in bad weather, but on this trip the kokanee bite was on!

My Dad built our family cabin there in the late 50's. I've pulled a lot of fish out of that very beutiful lake over the years.❤

That's great to hear. Ruth is definitely a fun lake to fish and float around on.

Nice video and good info. I do like Mack's and Paulina Peak tackle (Kokanee Kid fishing is another good one). I have a 17' Lund and fishing wind was almost impossible on a hot bite, but we bought a Minn Kota Terrova and what a game changer. Even with the top up we can control the boat in wind. We are often the last boat out. Thanks again for sharing the great info

I'm glad you liked it. Paulina Peak and Mack's Lure make some great stuff. I would love a bow mounted motor one day on any sized boat I have. I've been getting into jigging for multiple species and really like it. A bow mounted motor with anchor lock would be amazing. It would also be amazing for trolling in the wind giving me more time to focus on fishing.

Excellent work out there man! Super tough conditions but you stuck with it and it paid off!

Thanks. It was a long, slow start and then it was lights out action. Wish I had a second person in the boat that day. 😀

Ben I watched this again, and what I do when its windy is to motor up wind as far as you can then I troll back with the wind using my electric motor for control and speed adjustment as needed. This works well even on the larger lakes.
@FougereFamilyAdventures2 жыл бұрын
I agree with that method. Unfortunately, there wasn't much time that day as I was marking HUGE schools and did not want to miss the action. This is definitely a great tip and I use the drifting with the wind technique often. 👌

At minute 15 of your video you show the hook you are set up with. I've gone through great debate with different answers about the double hook set up. Now i want your opinion on the topic. Is two single hooks with no barbs on one lure still considered a 'Single Barbless Hook'? Keep up with the great videos, your time spent making them is appreciated.
@FougereFamilyAdventures11 ай бұрын
I would read the fishing regulations. While they are sometimes not as clear as they could be, they should state that in there. If fishing a river or stream in BC, you most definitely need single (1 hook) barbless

Another great video. Can I ask, is there a lake /resort that comes to mind around there that has a nice resort for the wife to enjoy in our 5th wheel, while I get out in the belly boat?
@FougereFamilyAdventuresАй бұрын
If I remember right, Ruth Lake lodge had campsites, but it's been a while since I've been there. If you're looking for a place for the 5th wheel and a lake that is relatively small for a belly boat, give Russ and Michelle a call at Moosehaven Resort on Hathaway Lake. It's by far one of my favorite resorts in the Cariboo.
