I can promise you the PM2 won't break. I have two videos where I've tried to break it. For me the manix loses mainly due to the weaker lockup. I'm sure it will do just as well if not better than an axis lock but the compression lock is up there with the triad lock. After borrowing my co-worker's manix for a little bit during a shift while he tried out my PM2 I actually felt that for my hands the PM2 was a bit more ergonomic plus I like the more aggressive jimping and steeper ramp. Add in the slicier blade on the PM2 and you just have a boss of a knife. A lot of people say the tip would be easy to break on the PM2 but I have stabbed it deep into wood and wiggled it around with no tip failures. To each their own but I know for my preference I'd take the PM2 all day every day. My co-worker sold his Manix to buy a PM2 so I'm thinking you're just weird. Lol. Good video man!

I know you have abused that pm2 for sure. I really like both of these knives just me personally I think I just prefer the little bit thicker handle of the manix just makes me feel like I got a little more in my hand.

Woodland Tactical , you are incorrect. The ball bearing lock is stronger than the compression & frame locks . In fact the only lock design / system that is stronger than the ballbearing lock is the back lock. Another fact about the ballbearing lock that makes it superior in my opinion is that it self adjusts with wear guaranteeing no wiggle or blade play. I'm a South Paw so I've always gravitated twords the ballbearing or back lock. I've tried many different styles from different companies & the ballbearing lock from Spyderco is my favorite. The S.O.G. Arc & Benchmade Axis locks are badass too ! A Manix 2XL has been my EDC for 6yrs now & the performance of the ballbearing lock has been flawless , never having one issue in the thousands of time's it's been opened & closed.
@pauldayton5285
@pauldayton5285 4 жыл бұрын
How do you figure that the compression lock is stronger than the ball bearing lock? The ball bearing lock is the second strongest lock design made with the back lock coming in first. You can look the lock strength tests up on you tube. The ball bearing lock is ambidextrous where the compression lock is made for right hand use only. That right there should give the ball bearing lock the win over the compression.

So good to see you again brother!! Would have to go with the PM2. I prefer the slimmer, more slender knife and the PM2 is more comfortable for me! Prefer the compression lock over the ball bearing lock by far! Great video brother!!

Definitely glad to be back JB! I knew there'd be quite a few people that actually prefer the paramilitary 2 over the manix 2. For me the manix 2 just fits my hand a little better and I like the little wider blade. Don't get me wrong I still carry my paramilitary 2 quite often. Thanks JB

It's damn good to see you back bro..I missed ya! Hope all is well with you. Personally, I like both, but the Manix gets my vote. I carry one of my Manix's far more often then I carry my PM2. ( I have 2 Manix's, only 1 PM2, if that says anything ) The Manix just feels so natural in the hand..like it is part of my hand. I just feel like I have a little more control on fine work. The PM2 is not a bad knife by any means though....the Manix just edges it out for me. Everyone has different likes, different hand sizes, and we use our knives differently, so I can't fault anyone for liking the PM2 better. They are both big sellers for a reason..they just work, and you really can't go wrong with either one. I like these head to head comparisons..and I'm happy to see you back!

It's definitely good to be back brother! I agree they are definitely both great and eyes and like you said everybody's feel is different and in my opinion the manix just fits my hand a little better and I feel the same I have more control at the Mannix than I do the PM2. definitely hoping to get back in the swing of things now that stuff starting to slow down some

I like the Manix 2 better, I was lucky to purchase a limited release Spyderco Manix 2 with M390 steel and brown G-10 , looking forward to getting that one this week. As for this baton nonsense who would baton with a folding knife it makes no sense this baton issue has gone nuts and now many knife buyers expect every knife to be able to baton otherwise it is useless in this survival mentality which is extremely rare even if you had to survive you do not need to baton logs of wood . Knives are cutting tools number one that is what they were designed for . Though these big modern fixed blades can baton with 1/8 or thicker blades I have no use for that . A folder and a small fixed blade 3-5/8 inch blade current fixed blade is all I need with me anywhere I go ,so I carry both and other small items lighter ,flashlight etc. . I have the Manix 2 in translucent blue with the CTS Bd1 steel it works great and excellent steel in my opinion , I never had to fully sharpen that steel just touch it up and it is sharp , the M390 version should be great too , nice feel in the hand even with the finger cutouts on this knife handle. I never had the cage lock fail though it can get dirty with dirt and stuff and can be difficult to clean but I just rinse it out and oil it. I like the Manix 2 to me it is a very good choice for a everyday cutting tool.

Manix 2 all the way. The PM2 is an ergonomic fail with the compression lock. It's a huge hot spot, doesn't make me dislike it, however, for use the Manix is just way easier on your hands. Yes I have over 10 Manix but i also have 5 PM2 so it's not like I hate it. It's just not the user the Manix is.

The Manix has been my go to Spyderco. Their are still a ton of great sprint runs and dealer exclusives. I own both, for me the pm2 is the easy winner. Maybe I got a sub par manix 2, but my pm2 has way better action, the lock is stiff on the manix, plus the pm2 has tiny bit more blade yet the manix is heavier and takes up more space. I'm not a huge fanboy of the pm2 tho, unless you want that bigger blade I'd say the sage 5 is a better buy.

They're definitely both top sellers and for good reason. For me the manix fits my hand better and the action is great plus I really do enjoy the bearing lock over the compression lock. It's a huge hot spot once you start using the knife. The inside of the scales are sharp and feel too far apart. A back lock and closed spine would have made it a favorite for me even though it has thick blade geometry.
@BlueCollarSurvival
@BlueCollarSurvival 5 жыл бұрын
I'm definitely not a fan of the shaman I actually did a review on one not too long back. The cut out for the compression lock is way too big and is a major hotspot for me plus the blade to handle weight ratio feels quite a bit off for me.

Love both, but manix of the two. Stronger lock, better ergonomics. Compression locks fun to play with but a knife is a tool and the ball bearing lock is way wayyy stronger. I have a para 3 LW I use for light tasks, but I'd never rely on it like I do my Manix.
