Honestly BCU and any other strong sousa section all teach the same thing. Only difference is style and technique. Rock got a solid sound bcuz of their effort of playing at the same time. Even JSU teaches you to play in tune and together. When you hear them both in person from up close and afar, you will notice they almost sound identical other than volume. And the size and material of their horns make a huge difference. No matter where you go or who you study, you’ll learn the same thing. Breathing, phrasing, and tuning. “Real tuba players” is kind of a stretch ngl.

Everyone has their own style and BCU has theirs and does it well but I like some of the others I like it when tubas sound a lil nasty like southern when they had the hybrid horns especially when Felix was on tuba

I agree. Would also throw FAMU in that mix as well. The OLD SWAC Bass Sections Sacrifice Bottom for Volume. Tubas should blow, not scream. No disrespect.
