super refreshing to watch. new player combinations, unique playing style, and most importantly their interactions with each other under a less stressful condition. just brings so much life into this event. just purely from the interactions between top players made it a much better event. so fun to see the other sides of player, their cheekiness and playfulness. this is something the badminton fans have never thought they needed but when served they definitely wants more of it now

I watched the whole tournament and absolutely enjoyed it! I also agree with all the points you mentioned. Hope Badminton XL comes back bigger and better next time. One of the unique thing that we got from BadmintonXL and won't get anywhere else is a match between Kunlavut and Kodai that lasted only 40 minutes! Unbelievable! 😂

From what I see, they key to win the event is to have versatile and strong MD players in the group. Hurricane has Aaron Chia and Blitzers has Seo Seung-jae. They both played full time except for the 3rd day where they faced each other before the finals. It wasn't obvious at the start when you only see big names (some of them are past their peak tho). For example Lee Yong-dae (he's past his prime) or Yuta Watanabe (who played MD in the past but didn't really match with Soh Wooi Yik nor Tang Chun Man). Strategy is also quite important in the final. The Blitzers did really well in the final by pairing Alexandra Boje and Pornpawee Chochuwong instead of Toh Ee Wei in the WD to maximize their chances in winning the 3v3. I think the difficulty matches the reward. Aaron Chia said it's tiring (no kidding he and Seo played 2x40 minutes almost everyday) but fun and seeing how happy the Blitzers when they won it shows how happy they are that their hard work pays off.

Great video as always! Will be great for the sport with new and exciting formats of competition. What I absolutely love and where I see great potential is in the possibility to build a brand of the league, but more importantly of the teams. One problem badminton will always suffer from is that if you're a fan of a player, you can only cheer them on for so long. I had a few years after the Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei era where I fell away from the sport because they were the players I followed and when they retired there wasn't anyone I followed for a while. In football you cheer for a team and people cheer for clubs like Manchester United, Juventus or their local club their whole life, but in badminton there has not been possible except for rooting for your nation. I think that if everything is going right then there could be fans of te Blitzers no matter who plays on the team. And if that doesn't happen there could be more fan interactions in regards to putting together pairs that we want to see. Imagine a few years ago seeing Kevin Sukamuljo and Goh V Shem playing together and being able to vote for which players should play doubles and/or 3v3 together. No matter what happens there's great that such a new format is tested and that hopefully will continue.

There's also something I once tried and would probably be entertaining here, which is the following: there's 4 players in the court but they are both playing "singles" at half court simultaniously (with two shuttles) and as soon as one player scores a point (one of the shuttles is no longer in play) they transition to a normal doubles game at full court without stopping. It would also be very fun to see singles players playing doubles and vice versa

Really nice to have this type of event for badminton. Nice video ben... love it! Here's my thought: 1. I think it's a bit dissapointing that they already announced on their social media that Fajar, Gregoria, Jonatan will be participating in this event but eventually they withdrawn. I have a strong believe this have correlation with PBSI which they not giving a permission for their players, so they can maximize their time to pratice for Kumamoto-China Masters. I saw a few comments of fans decided to resell their tickets because those names were withdrawn. So, the organizers should have made all things clear up since the beginning to make sure the players can participate. Despite that, i personally watch it online and still satisfied with Yeo, Gutama, and Lee Cheuk as replacement because it's still entertaining. 2. It's pity that there is no chinese players on this event because of course they have many top players. CBA probably have strict rules to not allowed their athletes to join this event. 3. Yup, the kit clearly not appetizing to see. They definitely should improve this one. 4. I hope this won't be an one-time event, also if the next event comes it doesn't necessarily being held in Istora. It can be held in country like Malaysia because they have many badminton fans too. 5. Tickets pricing is too high because this is the first event, not widely known by many badminton fans even until the first day. But for Indonesia specifically, theres also some factor such as less badminton achievement since last year compared to 2022-Previous COVID, also the buying power of Indonesia is not really good since last year. That's also the explanation of significantly decreasing spectator of Indonesia Masters-Indonesia Open.

I’d always like to see the top singles guys play doubles or the other way round. Could be an interesting one that in one match, your singles player must play in a doubles match. Or one of your doubles players has to play a singles match. Might be tricky that way with doubles players not used to singles movement but would certainly be fun to watch.

I really loved the different mix up of players and especially 3v3. It would also be fun if every player on the team has to play on 3v3 since it has the biggest point, so there's gonna be more strategizing involved like putting certain group of players against their opponents, everyone needs to be able to compensate each others strength and weaknesses. I was really looking forward to seeing the singles players playing in a team as well.. but unfortunately that didn't happen too much in this event But overall it was great 👏👏, just need better marketing and more fans 😅

Something like 3 vs 3, timed game and something like zonal scoring is reminiscent of the techniques and games I used as a coach with junior county players back in the day. It was both fiercely competitive, a valuable learning tool and exciting for the players and I am sure part of the fun of this event for the players would have been the call back to their formative years as players (as I was hardly unique in using these games to break up the sometimes rather dry nature of coaching performance sport). I see no reason why an event like this cannot compliment the BWF circuit, entertain the fans and give the players a break from the grind of having to be at peak performance/delivery all season. In the race for success it can be easy to lose sight of the fact that badminton is also great fun, too.
