I recommend making the accessories for xp and tools for +30% drop first. You keep your silver thread clothes bonus while building up manos mastery. The manos clothes are the hardest/costliest to lvl. No stacks and gem cost increases with lvl per attempt.

The old Silver Embroidered clothes are still useful if you are still levelling up skills, as they have a bonus to skill xp and usually better bonuses to Gathering or processing than what you'd get from Mastery, which requires heavy (read: expensive) investment to get the snowball rolling.

Also, I havent really done gathering and still trying to decide which alt to make my gathering all, so when im leveling gathering should I just have on the blue manos gear or the chest that gives the increased experience?

You want to use lifeskill mastery clothes for gathering. In addition to earning way more money, the increase in rare items from gathering = more xp and you can scale that XP through other bonuses like the 50% book, pets, value pack, verdures, etc.

Yes, you can mouse over fishing in game to see the bonuses. More mastery means more relics and a chance at new orange quality fish

After all this theorycraft/lipservice I haven't gained much practical info beyond knowing you can buy green and blue gear. No clue about orange stuff since saying how to get it is "too complicated"

Why upgrade the gathering tools? Don't you need memory frags to repair them, isn't this a bit of a waste? Or is there another way of repairing the gathering tools?

The money you're making from gathering should easily outweigh the cost of memory fragments if it's something you do regularly. If you aren't ready to make that level of investment, just go for a TET Green tool instead.
