Well. I'm an Insider. I'm a Second Year Dentistry Student. In a Premier Dental College of India. The Circumstances are Not Friendly herein! Even the top notch Stars of the Dental Universe get Awful Incomes! In Our Dental College, The Medical Staff(MD/MS) doesn't get even a penny less than 1.5lac/month (minimum) but the MDS staff earns just 30k-70k😳! & BDS Staff is Jobless! Life is miserable for Dentists in India. I have my Professors saying that Nowadays even pursuing MDS is Unfruitful. The Competition is Insanely Intense. If you spot a Professor at Dental College.. He is the King among Thousands of Applicants for that particular spot! Only a Few Well Established & Famous Names of the City are Tension Free. Then comes the Point of Discrimination. Well Yes, You are Discriminated & often you'll be shown Inferior to MBBS counterparts by your Professors. Infact in real life, You're Disrespected whenever you display your Course. People will always Pester you in Gatherings & Meetings as if They themselves are Superspecialised Neuro-Surgeons! That's The Most pinching Part of the whole Story. The Expenses, Study, etc. etc. of MBBS & BDS are approximately the Same but still BDS are always Underrated. At last! Here's the Reality 'Ground Zero Report': BDS is a Beautiful Course. It combines the 3 Pillars i.e Doctor+Engineer+Artist. Join this course only if You have a Passion for this Course otherwise it'll be a Disastrous Decision. You're surely going to Enjoy this 'Smile Spreading' career. Believe me Earning won't be an issue if you have that ingredient 'Passion'. All these Quacks earning 30k-70k are just working for a living.. they have no genuine interest in Dentistry. Work Hard. You could even be among the Top Pioneers earning Packages of Crores! But surely there'll be a Head-on collision after your Graduation.

Saranya Reddy Hey! First of All, you'll be largely unaware of what Dentistry is all about. I recommend googling around & deciding if it really excites you. Herein Vacancy & Rate of Employment are too scarce. Your field & opportunity to work will be less but still be satisfactory. Salary after dentistry solely depends upon your 'talent'. If you're Artistic & in Demand, earnings may reach lakhs! But if you're investing ₹20 lakh then its a big Gamble. More towards the drastic side. If you drown you'll be in heavy debt & if you succeed (for which MDS is must nowadays(another debt)) ₹20 lakh is a matter of 1 year. + you will have many other 'after course' heavy expenses which will burn holes into pocket & still be another Gamble! In short, Its a vicious circle, a Trap. Considering the same Situation, I would've had given another chance to NEET & tried for a govt. dental seat than spending ₹20lakh for a ug couse as its simply not sensible. (MBBS would've still been bearable) & 'Mark my Words' taking BDS just because you were rejected for MBBS makes no sense. Its a question of '5 long years' not a thing to be decided in mere 5 mins! The most important : Ask yourself that Medicine/Dentistry really excites you or you're just involved due to Society's Pressure? Most of my fellows were never interested in such. They're just a bait to Society's Standards. Hope you'll make the right choice. :)

Such a negative video.. Instead of telling students to continue this and spread awareness more about dental issue u r telling them to think twice.. One big reason for the lack of dentistry in India is the mindset of doctors themselves.. They underestimate themselves alot.. Aap khud ko kuch ni samjhoge to dusre bhi ji samjhenge.. I will suggest people to grow so much in dentistry ki each person is equally concern regarding dental health as well and try to bring new and cheap procedures..

Every field has its own challenges, if we have passion we will succeed. Nowadays Mbbs doesnt have a value unless there is an *MD* degree with it. Even i know a few mbbs graduates who practise in emergency department and earns just 10K(peripheral scenario in kerala). A few who prepared for pg entrance couldnt crack it even!! Even there are engineering graduates who are searching for jobs so not only this field has complications alone, we have to face challenges in every field. So choosing BDS wont be a curse unless you have passion for it.

I just want to add one thing hear is bds is a very good field if u are going to compare plain bds or mbbs then bds is much better to go for just want to say one thing whether you are ayush dr or dentist or mbbs the degree will only allow you to practise but its you who takes the degree to higher level i've seen orthodontist prosthodonist earning more then md or ms dr so everyfield is great it just that u should have patience and passion and you'll be succesfull in your own fieldp

There is no doubt that BDS is much more better than BAMS, yes job opportunity in govt. Sector are less,bit if u r skilled dental surgeon ,u can very easily earn 5 to 6 times more money than BAMS doctor. One plus pt is that only MBBS and BDS are recognized by WHO, as a dental surgeon u can practice in any country of world like America, England, Canada. But BAMS is limited only in India. After BDS u have to struggle for MDS ,but really if u do ur MDS from a good. Govt college or even from good private college, u can earn much enough fromm MBBS,MD doctors.

Yes job is less,but of u r skilled u can earn many more than govt medical doctors. In a single day if u treat only 5 patient then very easily u can earn 5-7 thousands in a single day

sir I have tried so hard for MBBS but unfortunately couldn't get it only by few number may be 3..4 no. and I had to do bds bcz I had no choice... I HV completed my bds now I am an intern ..but completely unhappy from bds... bcz people compare us in everything...even it ..dr. as a prefix... people say you are just dentist ..not a doctor... and in studies level also..

if u do ur pg in omfs, u'll do lots of things beyond ur thinking. for an instance, u'll do "Comolex Craniofacial Surgery ".You have already done bds so,u have no Other options. I don't know whatever happens in indian but in Bangladesh omfs doctors do-Face transplants,facial plastic &cosmetics, hair implantation,Complex craniofacial fracture management, head&neck Cancer management, Skull base surgery, Sinus surgery, different neck surgeries (ex-lymphnode excision) &so on.Check youtube channel of dr S M Balaji. BDS from Maulana Azad institute of dental sciences . N its damn good , u will Explore so more in this field . Saturation is in every field if one is below average, n bds in itself is a specialisation at graduate level , so one ca definitely go for a government seat if interested.

Mbbs is having much better prospects. Though in BDS too one may get success.. But jobs are more in MBBS.. Watch the video I have explained the things

You should not go for BDS, In India dentistry has fully saturated, you will get nothing after BDS

I commit same mistake in 2009 ..so don't get fooled..mbbs is million times better than bds..I choose gdc over private college from deemed univ.where I get rank 1 ..gdc ruined my life it took 9 years to get my bds completed,simply because of lack of interest ,it's not that feild what you dreamt of while being an aspirant,lack of jobs , mushroom dental clinics overall you have to be very best to survive here..while in private mbba it took money but you can earn those money easily post passing your ug /pg ..mbbs is not skill based while bds is heavily dependent on technical skills

It's the most corrupt dental college in planet , inefficient professors used to take revenge or get fun in spoiling ur career ..it's sounds unbelievable or I may sound weard but September 2018 I finally completed my internship and in a span of 3 month preparation I scored rank in neet PG well under 250 ,so my lost confidence over myself has gotten a boost post neet pg results declared on 14 th this month ,I am eagerly waiting for the counseling now ..
