Wanted to reemphasize what Joel said about the aggressive smelling. We neutered our dog 5 weeks ago and we have seen a definite change in his behavior. We don’t have to correct his aggressive smelling or trying to mount me or his pushing dominant approach to other dogs because he no longer does those things . The biggest issue was his attitude with other non neutered dogs . That to has gotten such much better. Thoughts on now putting him with a pack of dogs supervised and let him adjust to the pack. We have a very well known dog hiker who picks up the dogs and takes them on a group hike. He has amazing leadership with the pack. We’re very excited to do this and also slightly apprehensive . Feed back, please.🐶

I think the hike is a fabulous idea. I can almost guarantee you that yours will be amazing just because the leader is the leader of the pack and does not have the compassion end of the relationship with your dogs and therefore will not get bad reactions as you would being the owner. And of course it will help the dog in the end.

The biggest part of this that I like, is when the dogs owner is doing the work and she's learning. The hardest part of owning a dog and training good dog behavior is knowing how and being able to do it properly and having confidence in yourself. I think we could all see more of that.

I was watching this video on the big screen and when Ebony came out, my dog charged towards them, barking, to chill them out. As soon as you brought their energies down, he's just stand and keep watch. And my dog would also agree before all corrections on Kiba. This was a strongest reaction I've seen of him towards dogs on screen, which was fascinating. My dog is a dominant "military type" who is always going in to correct over-excitement in other dogs.

You are completely right about the vibe a dog gives off. Oftentimes older dogs can recognize puppies that are going to grow up to be more dominant. I raise and breed Colorado Mountain Dogs (livestock guardians) and I have noticed when I bring in certain new puppies the older dogs will be much harder on them than other ones and almost always those puppies seem to grow up to be more dominant and likely to cause problems in the pack. I've also noticed a trend with puppies that are overly submissive to adult dogs becoming kind of jerks to dogs they consider themselves alpha over. It's beyond the good kind of submissive, I'm this type they just won't get out of the adult's face and keep licking, and rolling on their back and then the adult tries to leave and they run back in front of the adult and start groveling again. I've started avoiding puppies with this personality because even though they seem submissive, something about it is off and seems to end up being the type of personality that isn't balanced and ends up being as over the top trying to boss other dogs as they are over the top trying to convince other dogs they're submissive

I’m coming from my online program of positive reinforcement training and I’ve gotten a lot out of my puppy in the last three months and I’ve done a lot of great work but stumbling across some of your videos recently it’s helped me be a little bit more creative in blending the disciplinary corrections with positive reinforcement so thank you…… Unfortunately with my family thankfully I live alone but whenever he’s around them they don’t truly understand all of the heavy amount of training that I’ve put into my dog I’ve been till now and I’m constantly getting shamed for not letting my dog get away with a ton of stuff and it’s heartbreaking and frustrating on massive scale. The one thing I can’t figure out how to have my dog become a little bit more calm around other dogs I put him in daycare he plays pretty well but from my experience when he’s playing with specific dogs one on one can be a little way too much and doesn’t respond to the recall can you make a video on a heavy excitable dog and how to correct that or the practice listening when really excited

"Look at this puppy- we couldnt have a more in-your-face-puppy". Yes TF you could. My soon to be mother in law's springer spaniel is so obsessive with biting at any dog's face, a few times I have let my Catahoula really pin her and tell her NO more, and the dog still just jump jump jump biting faces. It's absolutely too much and she's almost 8 months old now. I don't want to tell Mary she needs to hire a trainer or let me have her for a bit, but G-damn. Some dog is going to hurt her. This baby lab looked fantastic and reserved in comparison. Also- thank you for making these videos. I have a very dominant Catahoula, and he's become such a good companion because of your guidance.

He looks so much like my white GSD. Beautiful dogs and so sweet. Also, my vet recommended we wait to neuter until 2 years which we did. This was based on science of what’s best for large breed dog. It hurt socializing ( so did COVID lockdowns) but he’s still a great dog at play dates. He’s sweet but won’t be pushed around. On the other hand , my GSD lab mix was neutered before he was 10 weeks old and he humped everything in sight, dominated puppies at play dates and played aggressively. So I’m not a believer that neutering early “fixes”anything.

Interesting to see the interaction of Kibo with dogs of varying ages/personalities. Not wanting to see anything really bad happen but I was hoping to see how you would've handled the "pinning puppies" issue. One of my dogs will do that with out-of-control puppies that enter the dog park but he will never bite or injure them. My dog will pin a puppy down if the puppy enters the park and starts running around before allowing my dog to sniff him.

Yeah my girlfriends dog was trying to do that at first with my little dogs, they chewed her out for it, because she's so big it hurts, even though she doesn't mean to, she's just a big bouncing bimbo, and she uses her paws like hands which can get rough fast, I see progression, and one of my little ones is very reactive to begin with so she's had to learn quick (and this has also led to that dog being less reactive THANK GOD but she still has a long way to go, still early

They might come from German Shepherd, but White Swiss Shepherd has a different temperament. My 5yo WSS comes from a breeder that also has GSD and she can confirm that. They are extremely sensitive and very tuned with the owner. You can clearly see it in the video when he's coming for reassurance and begging the owner to be removed from the super stressful situation. I had different dogs all my life, but WSS was a challenge. I did mistakes while raising him and it took me a long time to fix them. Luckily, now I have the greatest boy that makes me proud every day. My piece of advice is to never use dominance with them, it's going to destroy their trust in you and bring a whole lot of other behavioral problems.

I think he wants to make them run in order to chase them (he prefers to chase dogs rather than being chased). Also he is a mix breed probably border collie and English setter. Maybe its instinctual? @emmat2276
@emmat2276 Жыл бұрын
Allergies from grass like st Augustine and Bermuda mix which is popular in most city yards for fuller looks is a common allergy to dogs and cats. Dogs rest on their elbows so that spot suffers the most. The red is from licking and staining the fur from saliva bacteria or sometimes oily hair patches with high dander causing irritation for the hair to fall out revealing the inflamed skin. Happens a lot in long hair breeds from imbalanced diets lacking vitamin E and omega fats found in fish oil plus short haired breeds with lots of body oils that need frequent baths with skin sensitive shampoo preferably oatmeal based to remove the excess oil without being too aggressive on the skin to leave some oil for moisture and protection from the sun.

My dog is a 8month gsd and he won’t pee with his leg up how would I train to put his leg up when peeing? I really wouldn’t care but it’s almost getting to the point where he’s gonna pee on himself and that’s gross.

When we had a male dog he didn’t lift his leg to pee either until he was a little bit older. I can’t remember his age exactly, but it was almost like he learned it after the puppy stage.

Dogs lift their legs to mark. If he is just squatting he isn’t going to pee on himself.

@@underworldbean3942 he doesn’t squat I’m not dumb I just said it’s getting to the point where the pee is hitting his leg… he just like stands with his hips forward.

I have 2 Swiss whites, they are super sensitive my boy squats too lol . Generally they go threw a fear anxiety phase between 9 months and 14months this is a hard time because they can be extremely difficult to train threw this phase can be a stubborn breed.. He will settle just got to train threw it , desexing makes no difference they are extremely protective, sniffing won’t stop and loyal to owners the jumping is a Swiss thing too . I still have to knee my bitch occasionally she’s is 6yrs . They are fantastic sniffer dogs my boys sire is national championing OZ. They were also used in Iraq special forces for there sniffing out bombs and bond with handler is incredible , you will never get that out of him it’s genes. I get sniffed every time I get home and my bags and car , shoes you name it! .ps the vibe is the anxiety they are quite fearful at this phase trust me it gets better , leave it commands brilliant with them. So strong my bitch jumped a 6 foot fence to get to me at this phase , pulled a trainer across a yard when I came to pick her up! I’ve learned a lot having 2 an breeding. Highly intelligent , and very sensitive but can be very stubborn. They are not food based usually they are rewarded with praise from owner only. The bond is similar to akita breed. I ve had two German shepherds not the same breed at all , apples and pears. Love your work Cheers from 🇦🇺👍

Love the video, this kind of stuff definitely helps on a practical level. I gotta admit that seeing that Poodle all poodled up drove me a bit nuts. Give that dog a tight shave and it's a really beautiful animal. The Poodle puffs just ruin the proportions imo.

Mmm. That’s a gorgeous specimen. White German Shepherd. That tail reminds me of Minecraft doggo. See what I did there? The dogs in Minecraft follow you around and wag their tail just like this one does! Woof! 🥰 Not an easy animal to own though! And the grooming! So fun. I still prefer the husky tail that cascades. So sexy.
