Be a Holy Priesthood - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon

Friends, there is an enormously important line in our first reading today that we might just pass over: “The number of the disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly; even a large group of priests were becoming obedient to the faith.” Priests were so important in Jewish religious life, and these priests knew that Jesus was the fulfillment of the whole tradition of temple sacrifice. We, all the baptized, do not just admire Christ’s supreme priesthood from afar; we participate in it.

Please pray for me and my children. I know Jesus is coming soon. I will keep faith. I will lay my fears upon the Lord! As a single mother I’m overwhelmed at times because both of my children are autistic. I’m desperately struggling trying to support them my husband passed years ago. Since covid I’ve been struggling. I lost my job as a social worker at Forsyth hospital because I declined the vaccine. I declined because of my pre existing health condition lupus and heart disease. I was denied my medical/religious exemption. I’m waitressing and I’m so THANKFUL to be working again, but I’m not making nearly enough to make ends meet. I also started homeschooling my boys due to them having many issues including bullying so my hours to work are limited. But even as I struggle every month to pay rent and to buy groceries and even though I’m ashamed because of my situation. I have faith that God will provide. He has this far. Faith is truly the key. Please pray for me and my children. GOD BLESS!😊❤

Thank you for the gentle reminder that we are god's living stone, we are here to spread his word and take care of the world and the people in it. We are able to be spreading his word amongst ourselves and be a part of spreading his gospel on this earth just like priests do. A lot of people now a days forget that not only are we to take care of ourselves and family but to love thy neighbour accordingly. We are all here to take care of each other and spread the good word. We all must become aligned with the idea of holy priesthood and be able to spread the word of God. It's good to exercise our ability to do so and sacfrifice some of our time to do so. It was not you who chose me, says the Lord, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. John 15 This past Lent I was struck by Jesus's obedience to the Father. Obedience to death. Keeping my eye physically and spiritually on Jesus helps me to stay on the path and be obedient ti God who is my life.

I read somewhere that in the Temple were 3 doors. The Doors of the Path (goes outside where men from the inside came and tell to the people what priests says as sermon), The Door of the Truth (doors that led to the Sancta Sanctorum [where 2 stone plates were kept]) and The Doors of the Life (that led to the inner sanctuary where Altar was and Holy Bread and Wine for the sacrifice). So, Our Lord was litteraly saying: "I am The Temple". Buda and Muhhamad said that they gonna show us the way (Jesus said "I am The Way") and many many philosophers said that they gonna teach us the truth ("I am The Truth") and also so many life coaches and so many people said that they will show us the life and Our Lord said "I am a Life"! No one before and after Our Lord said that! Thank you so much dear bishop Barron! God bless all of the people here and all around the world! P. S. excellent explanation and exegesis of the Priesthood function. The non-Catholics have it wrong believing there are no NT Priests and only Jesus is our high priest. Amen He's our 'high priest' but that doesn't mean 'ministerial priests' were eliminated. Read from 1 Peter 4 ("...let yourselves ... be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices). Bishops Barron's sermons are awesome.
