Hi, I want to ask so which one is the correct sentence? 1. I'm afraid of being abandoned if my parents get divorced 2. I'm afraid to be abandoned if my parents get divorced I initially think 1 is the correct one but honestly I'm not sure now.

Great question! Number 1 is best. "I'm afraid to do..." means you are doing something (actively), but in this situation something is happening to you (passively). Example: I'm afraid to go out alone at night. (You actively go out.) I'm afraid of being robbed. (You passively get robbed.)
