Robert, I wanted to share an experience I had yesterday morning at Holy Mass. When the priest raised the unconsecrated host, I could see through it. It was like he was holding a piece of glass and I could see everything behind it. As soon as he said the words the Eucharist became solid and had substance. I did not need to see that to believe. It was amazing and beautiful to witness.

@seansheehy6725 which, I would point out, is also exactly what someone might say to you if they were trying to deceive you. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain"? Prohibitions on inquiry and verification just make me suspicious, that's all.

I'm a little confused, the interrogators questions and suggestions aren't unreasonable. Testimony is inherently suspect, particularly from non-neutral parties and the idea of being as credulous and gullible as children, who famously can be persuaded to believe in such things as Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy, doesn't strike me as great life advice. Saul got a personal visitation to convert him, so Christ isn't above a little light show to get your attention.

If God submits to every arrogant upstart to 'show' himself then He gives His power over to their whims. Its beneath Him in every possible sense. And to be fair - I think Christ is happy to show signs to people who will have their hearts changed... most people are like Pharaoh when he witnesses sign after sign he actually doubles down and hardens his heart. Most people asking for Christ to do a trick for them wouldn't accept Him even if He did. It's mockery. Suffice to say God knows this is the most excellent way... he wants US to go to Him by our own will... I asked Him once - "why all these veils?" He told me - "because it wouldn't be what it Is if it weren't". There is a causal opacity in the hiddeness of God... including Christ "hiding" His power.. it would be tant amount to force if Christ merely blasted everyone in the face with the fullness of unmediated supernatural works and glory... theres a subtlety to Him. As wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove. He acts the way He does becuase that is who He is.

Of course another, perhaps simpler explanation is the explanation you'd probably give if I made claims of divinity and then refused to prove it, but pointed at my friends and had them all swear blind I had totally done some miracles while you weren't there. If his love is infinite, the mockery wouldn't matter. It's not like he gets impatient or tired, it matters nothing more to him if he ""reveals"" himself through a sequence of plausibly natural contrivances and coincidences or a golden visitation by a roadside. For the record, if you summoned a plague of locusts (which would be non-native to my country, so extra impressive) and could do so repeatedly, at will, even under laboratory conditions.. . I'd be very tempted to listen to your supernatural claims, and I don't know anybody who wouldn't at least give your words more credence.
