I'm a long time fan of Be'lakor.. this song seems to continue somewhat on the same path as Vessels did but maybe there are some echoes from the older albums as well. I hope they'll have a few more melodic pieces on the album as well since I love their riffs and guitar duets. I'm happy they didn't change anything too much since they've been doing great stuff :)

Ending the song with the acoustic from the intro would have been anticlimactic,as the lyrics tell a story that ends in a dramatic way(the last riff is the most "aggressive" of the bunch for a reason)Be'lakor is all about storytelling,I started enjoying their music even more when I started paying attention to the lyrics(I advice anyone to do the same)
@allenschmucker83233 жыл бұрын
Yep and I would also add that storytelling and music is a continuous connection throughout the album. Criticizing how the song starts or ends without knowing what the previous song, or the next song sounds like is a bit unfair.

We are here to give our thoughts and opinions on the song. We can only judge what we have in front of us, how it will feel or look in the album is for later. It is a single, so it can only (for now) be judge as such. As far as closing as it starts, I stick to that point, I think it would have worked well in the context of the movement of the song, sometimes you go through changes just to find yourself exactly where you started and this song is very close to representing just that. In my opinion of course, everyone is entitled to theirs.

The best Melodeath band in this moment, Treaste is one of the best metal songs for me !!
@JeffAlbertson093 жыл бұрын
I personally like that it doesn't end with another acoustic bit. The story of the song is open-ended (the protagonist searches the corpse of his friend to see if his suspicions were justified, but we don't get told wether he finds anything or not) and an acoustic outro would have taken away that feeling of uncertainty. I still appreciate your take on it and enjoyed the reaction. I like when reactors say what they think and don't just pretend they like everything to please fans. Cheers from Germany ;)

RIFFS FOR DAYS! So fucking good! I don't mind the end, but I admit first listen I felt kinda the same way that it ends abruptly. Now I've listened to it quite a few times, it just is what it is. However, without the context of it within an album, we don't know what the next track will begin with. For instance, if the next song begins with a BANG, then the abrupt ending will suit the transition. Either way, so so glad to have this band back!

I can kind of see how adding the acoustic back in at the end might be a nice touch, "bookends" as he says. But we don't know what the rest of this album is going to be like yet or how much of a concept album it will or will not be. IF this happens to be the first track of the album, they could wrap up the album by bringing that back on the end track and there would be your bookends. I'm just supposing, of course. I also feel the perspective of what the other guy is saying, like "yeah but they didn't, I don't need it". Personally I had to listen to this track 3 times before I fell in love with it because it's a little bit different, but I *am* in love with it now!

Man I guess I must be a SERIOUS metalhead because I know NOTHING about Be'lakor but DAMN this is a badass track! Probably the only thing I disagree with is this track not being one to draw a new listener to Be'lakor... unless you guys meant someone new to metal. For me whose been listening to metal for nearly 20 yrs now, this is almost perfection in a song! Now I'm very interested to know more about them and their music and by the sounds of it they have more like this and better. Feel free to Suggest some of their all-time bests.

You are looking at song as something that should be completed. And what if this is just a single puzzle in album and this song is building to something bigger? What if it fits better without this acoustic guitar at the end to whole album? You will never know until you hear it as a whole :)

I disagree with the notion that Hidden Window is an "acquired taste". Now I've been a fan since Stone's Reach so I can't speak for first-contact listeners, but it's perhaps worth appreciating that people can have different experiences without them begin negative. Like with a good video game, you can play it to get through it and see what it's about, and on the other end of the spectrum loose yourself in the atmosphere and explore all the details and hidden gems it has to offer. Coming back to Meshuggah after hearing a bit about time signatures and polyrhythms made me realize that before, I just wasn't ready for that. Music is instantly gratifying, sure, but good music is also like a companion with which one can grow, and Be'lakor is one of the finest companions in my life.

LOL The older guy = Pedro. Pedro is both reactionary and analytical as he is the true album critic and very good at it even if I don;t always agree. Antonio has come a long way (he's still very young) and he has gotten to the point where he holds his own and makes good points on most every video now but his is more reactionary and less as a critic. Used to be that Antonio sometimes had little to say so Pedro was used to filling in but the confidence has grown and it is making the videos better as he grows.

I'm 3:39 through this video and all I see is two dudes nodding. One of them to the music and one of them just ... I don't know. Is he listening to something else? Is there supposed to be a reaction here somewhere? It's just two dudes bobbing their heads at different speeds. It's gonna be a thumbs down from me, this isn't a reaction, this is just ripping off a good band.
@puppetmaster85513 жыл бұрын
Good stuff as always, one of the best bands on the planet, they never miss. I get what you’re saying about the end but I thought it was a good way to end it along with the story the lyrics told. Anyway Great reaction fellas.
