I am an elementary principal, an I sent a link to this video to the teachers in my school. I wanted to send them the message that our students had the answers to many of life's problems, if they would only take time to TALK to them. So much of what we do in education is ALL about relationships. The best teachers are not the ones who KNOW things, the best ones are the ones who KNOW their students.

That's lovely. Thanks for sharing and your insightful comment. I told my whole office and we thought it was exactly the sentiment we wanted to get across with the video
In a world full of people, humans find themselves alone a lot of the time, and in a time when you can connect with anyone anywhere at anytime, you still find yourself alone, it's us that have changed.

This is so heart warming. Maybe if we could all think with some of the innocence of children, this world could find peace.

I'm not living in the UK and I really wish my country make a minister of loneliness and create campaign to end loneliness like this. Watching this is soooo heart-warming and had me to tears.

My best friend is my mom. She has cancer now, and I know I’m losing her. As much as I’m scared to lose her, I’m scared of the years I’ll spend without her. What do you do when you lose your best friend and your mom; when you can’t tell either that you miss the other.

I have lost my two best friends. Now I dont seem to be able to make friends. And although I am married and I love my wife and she is a good caring wife. I still feel lonely. I miss my work and The conversations we used to have. Loneliness is a terrible thing. But how do you end it? Just want to meet a few people who I can get on with. Seem to have lost the knack, too old at 78? Whats left
@ChrisRuch6 жыл бұрын
Never too old. Get involved in a community of some kind. Volunteer. Friends will happen naturally the more time you spend around people.

Hi Dave. Makes sense to me. I am finding in my 30's even that people are becoming less and less interested in socializing and more introverted but overall there are still people out there who prefer friends. It is DEF not too old at 78! I agree with what someone else here said about volunteering. I recently moved to a town where although I had old friends they had all kind of paired off making for less interest in socializing. I ended up joining a philanthropic women's group and I also foster cats. I have made friends through both avenues. Actually now that I think about it I also started attending a non-denominational church called Agape and I have met great people there! Church may not be the right word but it is something along those lines. The ACLU has local town groups I think called People Power.. I say think of the things you enjoy the most and see if there is a way to incorporate them thru volunteering in some way. You will surely meet people over time. But I do want to share with you that I think this issue is increasing at all ages. You are so not alone!

This is a very affecting campaign video, it's very well done. At Senscot we believe community solutions are key to addressing the symptoms and effects of loneliness and social isolation. We produced a briefing to showcase the contribution social enterprises in Scotland are making to the issues surrounding loneliness. You can read it here: senscot.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/SenscotBriefingLonelinessSmall.pdf Well done again on a great campaign video.

Seriously?? Teaching kids that 'having a coffee by yourself is sad'? Loneliness is definitely an issue in our society, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a coffee on your own. This is just adding more stigmatising. Being lonely is very different than being on your own. Sometimes I feel lonely and would prefer connecting with somebody else, sometimes I enjoy being on my own and hear myself think.
