Perfect for SFF cases like NR200, a comparison with the Noctua C14S would be great if possible

Thanks for the review but you didn't start with "Welcome to another video" !!! :-) Interesting review as always but personally I just don't like the thought of using air coolers in modern higher temp CPU builds. I used an AIO a few years ago for the first time and now would never go back. They always seem to perform better temp wise under heavy loads and as some people use their PC for game playing for hours on end it seems the more sensible option in my opinion if you are likely to do the same. That plus the fact that you'll pay almost as much for a high end air cooler as you will a lower end but still reasonable quality AIO. Not to mention the air cooler finnicky clip arrangements. Each to their own though.

Varying my intro. I prefer and AIO personally, but air cooler good for those who don't want water in the PC or in noise is most important feature. In certain SFF build e.g. you might fit a large air cooler or 120mm AIO where the air cooler will have the advantage.

I'm still on air , with a 5600X, It rarely hits 62 degrees playing intensive online multiplayer games,. When listening to music and browising around 35 and idles around 29 . The CPU fan is Arctics Freezer 34 eSports Duo . MY GPU a 2070 super also on air only gets around 69-70 max. All using the Corsair 4000D Airflow case. Coolest and quietest case i've ever used.

Air is better in every way, people forget that when using water Specific Heat is the main factor they ignore. Water is cooler till it completely saturates then it goes flat and remains there till further outside elements allow it remove heat further. It's why Cars have thermostats, it locks the water in the radiator too cool it more then when the heat rises inside the engine again, the thermostat opens and cool water enters the engine. AIO and custom loops don't have this so after an hour or so you have a glorified air cooler with water in it, and that's all. Also water stays hot after you shut down and takes far longer to settle to room temps unlike air coolers. Most important if an air cooler fan fails it's an easy fix, you have a failure in an AIO and it's game over if it leaked, if you're lucky and it just stops working, you're out whatever you paid for it. Advantages go to Air coolers, with mostly hype going to AIO's and custome loops.

It's interesting that you got 50dB maximum noise level for the Dark Rock TF 2, because they claim it has a maximum noise level of 27.1dB at 100% load.

Hey Chris great video btw. Do you think this cooler would work well in a NZXT H210 Mini ITX case? Gonna use a Ryzen 3 3200G cpu on a Gigabyte x570 I AORUS pro motherboard. Hope you see this comment and respond. Also I just sub to you.

Nice. Can the cooler be mounted the other way around so it doesn't hinder memory height at all?

Chris...air vs.water? For Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020? What is the Rocks longevity?
@ChristopherFlannigan3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the case and your preferences (looks, noise, temps) both can work well. Dark rock pro 4 is still my favourite air cooler and if you want a quiet build it would be first choice, 360mm AIO as intake will look better and give better temps, but will come at more noise, cost more and have the risk of water in the build. I would expect air cooler to last longer than AIO (less parts to go wrong and no water to evaporate)
