IMPORTANT UPDATE, PLEASE DO NOT SKIP: I have decided to move my non-Vietnam travel content to a second channel. If you enjoy these travel videos, please subscribe to Chris Lewis 2.0 (second travel channel): kzbin.info/door/oqGJPtvsPpALlhtqB1lcHAfeatured After a lot of thinking, I have decided to keep this current channel a Vietnam channel, and use this second channel as a travel channel. Good news? Same content as before, and double the amount. You'll get Vietnam videos plus travel videos, just on two different channels. The next few videos will still be on this channel, but then I will begin switching over in about a week. Cheers!

And yes the phone tax thingy by the govt is so full of crap. What if im on a more than 2 month vacation to pakistan now for an additional month i have to buy another phone. This happens no where in the world but in pakistan due to such atupid acts by the govt. If im a reseller bringing in more than 5 to 10 phones its understandable but the phone which im using for myself should be allowed to operate. And then they have extremely silly tax prices. I wonder who came up with this extremely stupid idea.

it was not like this until a few years back but as a lot of Pakistan including me work/study abroad and every years people brought few high end phones for family and friend, at one point most of the Pakistani market was saturated by non-taxed phones from abroad and people are bring them in bag loads. so the Govt start taxing it. but for people who are just there for a few months it works.

I disagree with your stance that Indian people are the way they are because the country is more developed and business oriented. I’m speaking as someone from America, living in NY. I have many Pakistani and Indian friends. Pakistani people are definitely more chill. Both equally work hard, but I noticed Indians are more opportunists. Their friendships with you usually revolves around what benefits they might receive, financial, connections, etc. Where Pakistani people usually have more of a genuine friendship. It’s definitely a cultural thing. Not saying Indians people are bad, or even trying to disrespect them. But again, this isn’t necessarily true for all Indians or Pakistanis.

I have a Pakistani background born and raised in Canada. One of my close friends growing up born in Canada with an Indian background. He traveled back to India to live for a few years and said many people within India are very competitive (with each other) and very fake. So Pakistan has a significant gap between it's imports and exports, which is something the govt wants to reduce. It's increased exports, but also heavily taxes what it considers luxury imports, like phones for example. This makes high-end phones very expensive in Pakistan. Now contrary to the data, there is a lot of money circulating in Pakistani pockets that isn't accounted for and there is a huge demand for luxury goods. This has led to opportunist people smuggling in phones - mostly expats returning to Pakistan. People would by brand new phones, take them to Pakistan and sell them, knowing that you could make a good profit. Hence the govt introduced this silly rule. The rule works though - people now either pay taxes, or their phones stop working. Also at the same time, domestic mobile phone manufacturing has sky rocketed. Pakistan has now become an exporter of mobile phones. Short term this is annoying for people, long term it's a model to self sufficiency and should be replicated with tens of thousands of other products.

Enjoying Chris' vlogs from Pakistan. He is slowly changing my negative opinion of a country I once visited. However, I must admit, the amount of trash in the streets, the parks and on the beaches continues to amaze me. Surely there are enough resources within the Pakistan government/municipalities to employ enough people to deal with this problem ?
@chrismixlewis2 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear! Indeed the trash is unfortunate. To answer your question, I’m guessing it’s a mix of corruption and lack of recourses/infrastructure.

There's a need for volunteers to start a "clean up day," where people get trash bags & clean streets, parks, lakes, etc. Set up large trash bins everywhere where citizens can take pride in their community. This is what is done in my city of 1 million. People r also fined if seen throwing trash & there's a no burning ban. I'm sure this will help any community/country. The way a country looks depends on their citizens since they r the ones littering. Chris, take care, have fun, blessings.

Well the govt has imposed heavy taxes on imported mobiles and it's benefits are showing now almost all the mobile companies when setup their assembly and manufacturing plants in Pakistan which has increased job opportunities for ppl plus more and more foreign Investment coming and now pakistan is exporting mobiles plus in few months the rates of mobiles will go 35-40 %down according to a report coz local manufacturing had increased a lot, Only apple is left which doesn't have a plant in Pakistan otherwise all the major mobile brands have setup their factories in Pakistan

We purchased jazz 4g WiFi boxes and they are an absolute game changer. Super fast internet on the move. We used them last year too all over Pakistan and great speed for laptops too.

Women in Pakistan dont usually like roaming around streets but if u wud look inside the cars, malls or restaurants ull find women there. But not in the streets. Coz of the pollution and hot weather mostly 😝

The areas chris usually visits are filled with daily wagers, that is the largest form of employment in Pakistan and that is around 95% of men. The women do not visit such areas as they are usually in markets, malls, restaurants, cafes or offices. There are numerous places in Karachi that are nicer and a full of women, but a run down juice stall or an electrical goods market is not one of them 😄

Chris, I have an idea for you: I hate to see so unnecessary littering all over. Use your influence, and gather a voluntary local group on ytube or Facebook and get the trash bags and forks and brooms ready and pitch in and pickup all the plastic and trash on the beach there or something like that. Would not only make for a nice channel but also possible inspiration for them to Kickstart a culture to volunteer and help their country from grassroots. If doesn't make sense, well... will keep thinking for some video ideas.... chao

I recommended the same thing for volunteers to start a "clean up day," there's lots of strong men 💪 there, I know they would do a great job.
@mysteriousjz2 жыл бұрын
@@gloriaa.garcia3985 yeah, I am seeing a great potential for them. People are wonderful, but I feel they may be lacking a willpower to get started. I believe once they rely on themselves (rather than the system, if any and they lack resources), and cleanup once, then they will be impressed with "new" world around them that they would like. And hopefully, that will induce cultural change to keep it clean and organized, and will have some psychological fulfillment that comes with volunteerism. I have been so impressed with Columbia and Sri Lanka how clean they looked for the most part, in videos I haveseen, though those countries are not wealthy either.
