This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. “Years of discipline for a moment of freedom,” says Sarah Horn. This voice teacher had her own -coincidental-moment of freedom, on the Hollywood Bowl stage and she was ready.
Sarah Horn gained notoriety last summer when she was randomly selected to duet with Kristen Chenoweth at the Hollywood Bowl, thus becoming a KZbin sensation overnight. Little did Ms. Chenoweth know she had randomly selected a voice teacher from the crowd.
Sarah is a lifelong music devotee and musical theatre enthusiast who holds a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from Belmont University and a master’s degree in both vocal performance and conducting from California Baptist University.
Sarah has performed with many theater companies and symphonies local to the Inland Empire, Los Angeles, and Salt Lake City.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

As talented as this woman is, and as exciting as it was to watch her sing so beautifully with Kristen Chenoweth, other than the last 39 seconds of the video, I didn't find this inspiring at all-- rather, it came across to me as 8+ minute display of her patting herself on the back. Instead of hearing her express humility and gratitude for being blessed with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, I heard her drone on about how great she is, and how you can be as great as she is...

Yeah I mean Kristin calls up people to do the same song at every concert and they're ALL pretty good, even the kids. The praise got to her head.

How is this a TED talk, it’s just seven minutes of bragging and two of sounding bitter because she put in hard work that people don’t appreciate …
