So excited for you and Ember!! Best of luck! I’m not sure if you have the Chinese herb, plantain, (not the banana-like plantains) in the grass around the course, you can mash the leaves and put it on bites and stings. Works great to take some of the pain and swelling away! I wish I could put a pic of the plant here, it’s super common and you probably think of it more as a weed.

Horse fly bites are the worse , I got bitten by one on my hand and it was so swollen that my fingers were like sausages, and had to keep it in a sling to stop the swelling getting worse , good luck Lucy and Ember

Honey is really good for mosquito bites. Maybe it would help a horse fly bite? Those things are massive, I'd be wearing jeans if I were you! I've had to start wearing jeans and boots even though it's 100 degrees here because of the mosquito swarms.

Now show Ember the jumps and agree how you're going to approach them. Have you tried Avon skin so soft oil to keep the horsefly away.
