I live in America (nc) and i hunted a few times in my younger years. So much fun, but not as exciting as your hunts. Watching this makes me wish i lived in England or Ireland. You're so lucky. I'm 72 now so i may be too old to hunt now but how i would love to. Love your video.

I often rode on the beach in my younger days and remember this feeling well the first time I galloped my off the track thoroughbred there. I also left my friends miles behind 😂 and thought I was either going to run out of beach or eventually drop dead before I could stop him. This brings so many happy memories back!

awesome, I had to laugh as you're doing the bandage, oh oh she's going the wrong way. You don't want to go with the leg, don't pull tendon (if that makes sense lol). You did the 2nd one correctly.

Love that you're trying Stuben. I've heard they're really good for the horse's back. I'm hoping to transition myself, so I was very interested in this vlog. Have you tried the biomex seat? Hopefully Ember loves the fit!!

So good to see your history amongst the horses. So common to see those of us borrowing, begging for them and literally selling our souls for them. And the experience we gain is unequalled. So although my age group had a few grainy pictures, we did such similar things. Offered rides on some fabulous horses that knew way more than we did. Hunted and pony club with events and shows. It made for some very wonderful memories and yours just brought mine flooding back. Thanks Lucy.

I had a TB who was strong and rushed all the time, even in the Dressage. I worked for hours every day just to tire him enough to control him. I finally had a breakthrough when I was running late and it was getting dark with no lights available but needed to run through my test so I put him in a roped arena(remember them) and started my test He was smart enough to know it would be dangerous to rush and so he settled and did his best test ever. It was a turning point for him. With the jumping I let him go at his pace on a 20m circle over one jump. It was hairy to begin with but his self preservation kicked in again and he settled into a rhythm and he became a fantastic jumper. I found fighting against him to be counter productive. They have to trust us as much as we trust them. Every horse is different and we have to find out what they respond to. It is definitely not one size fits all. Lucy, you have done an amazing job with Ember. It took me years to sort out my issues. We can see you are close. Good luck with your journey.

You must be so chuffed after you big day. Love how Caroline not only gave directions but explained why and what the outcome should/would be. Just with implementing some small tweaks you could see a difference in Ember's flatworm. So much to look forward to with him. New sponsorship very exciting & again plenty of explanation behind design and functionality. Very exciting times ahead for you both I think 🤗

I love saddle fitting, it’s so specific to each horse and I don’t think there is a wrong saddle, just wrong for some horses. I absolutely advocate for stubben, I have loved them since the 90s. My super wide shoulder short back mare loves them, I also dislike dressage saddles, and so did my mare, until I got our stubben, the exact same one you have in this video. Congrats on your new brand, can’t wait to see more eventing this season!

Omg Lucy my very first big saddle purchase was a Stubben jumping saddle hand made in Germany in 1972. My absolute favourite saddle of all time & my old fabulous Saddler Jim would make any adjustments required for me for free . He would never let me pay because it gave him so much pleasure working on such a magnificent piece of craftsmanship- his words .

I continue to be amazed by just how much power Ember can generate from behind in like a stride. The two of you will truly fly once you figured out the last little bits. Super interesting to see the fitting process. To me it looked as if you were not completely centred on Ember in either saddle but who knows what I saw. Lol.

This little horse has real talent. Observing his transformation from a depressed, neurotic, confused, and somewhat out of control juvenile to a smart professional with a joy for life that he expresses in his face and in his paces, has been very interesting Thank you Lucy for giving him the love and support he needed. He is fortunate that you chose to be his mum. 29:08

Kei te pai👍. You loved that Stübben freedom bridle so much and Ember did look to be going so well in it that I did wonder why you hadn’t made the saddle change sooner. Nice to see a Kiwi 🥝🇳🇿sharing their ingenuity with problem solving & easy instruction to get the desired results. The wine🍷analogy was perfect. It was great to see Caroline sharing her wisdom instead of just answering questions in a post ride interview. Time to build up your fitness so we can see more lessons😜 Great video Lucy.
