Hey, it's Ann Jones here. This Nature Track is a little different. I recently spent six weeks filming a Catalyst documentary called ‘The Soundtrack of Australia’. We set out to create a golden record of Australian sounds, just like the one NASA sent into space with the sounds of Earth in 1977. The crew filmed and recorded over 200 bespoke sounds - many of which have been arranged and layered into this final 30-minute composition. Unlike previous Nature Tracks, this soundscape includes human-made noises and voices. Sounds were gathered from as far west as the Perth Canyon (20km west of Rottnest Island) and as remote as Warramunga in the Northern Territory.

01:00 Sounds from above and under the water at a beach near Esperance, Western Australia.
03:00 Pygmy blue whale song near Perth Canyon, Western Australia.
06:00 Catching a ferry in Sydney, New South Wales.
07:20 A plane, there’s always a plane.
08:30 Catching a train near Sydney’s Opera House.
09:00 Can you hear beatboxer Tom Thum here? You can also hear street sounds from the Sydney suburb of Newtown.
10:10 A snippet of a conversation that has a swear word in it.
10:30 Iconic Australian pedestrian crossing, with the sounds of the city.
11:40 Cicadas buzz near Mount Annan, New South Wales; a lyrebird sings near Sherbrooke Forest, Victoria; and instrument maker and Ngemba man, Kristian Benton, taps on trees, looking for materials to make a yidaki.
13:47 Kirstian Benton on the didgeridoo.
16:00 Natural sounds are often marred by the sounds of leaf blowers, whipper snippers and other machinery.
21:15 Car on a country road with cows and cockies. A typical Australian scene.
22:30 At the Orange Agricultural Show, you can hear announcements, motorbikes, chickens, shearing and whip cracking.
24:30 A wood chopping competition.
25:30 Driving on a dirt road, note the dusty texture and corrugations.
30:46 Warramunga Seismic and Infrasound Research Station in the Northern Territory is one of the quietest places on Earth.
31:15 Wild cockatiels calling.

Maybe change the 'thumbshot'...do you not have control over that?!?!!? It looked like a medieval helmet being thrown against a wall in an anechoic chamber? That does NOT seems to lend itself toward a 'relaxative, beach, cit, didgeridoo sounds from Austrailia'. I am asking, do you not actually have control over that?
