I'm also going through the same at the moment and am not sure what it is about raskitchen videos that dulls the pain, but I think its the depiction of slow paced life in Jamaica which very much contrasts the relentless demands of the city a lot of us metropolitans are experiencing. Hopefully then such a swing will be made with better attention to a couple of basic principles. I detailed them above. Very worried about that honestly> even though I grew up in a time when we made insanely dangerous 'billy carts' we raced down hills, haphazard 'tree houses' 10-15 meters up in gumtrees ... designed with the best skills 14 year olds could muster using stuff we pinched from building sites mainly along with whatever junk seemed useful.

My reason for asking my original question is because when I interact with people from Jamaica, I hardly hear anyone say that they are from St. Thomas. So I thought it was neat. I can just imagine the exhilarating joy that Ratty felt on the swing. As a youth, I'd tie the rope on a sturdy tree branch & cut the seat from a small piece of board. Then, WOW, away I went; pumping to see how far I could go. Wonderful! It seemed that almond trees mostly grew along the seashore. We'd throw stones to get the yellow ripe ones. Then we'd pickup the dried ones, salted by the sea. Find a pair of stones, & crack; voila, out came the most delicious salted dried almond seed. Cheers to Matt, Mokko and the party. Hope you all enjoyed your experience that was a part of my youth. For Matt - mad ants is not a proper name to address a Jamaican person. These are ants that seem to be rushing to & fro without a purpose; hence the name. It is not nice: somewhat derogatory & humiliating.
