BEACH FISHING COPS CALLED AGAIN! LAWS HAVEN'T CHANGED

Two weeks in a row we got the cops called on us while fishing on the beach. In this episode we got to meet another awesome officer that came in response to the complaint but just wanted to make sure that everything was safe and that we were not fishing for shark. We got into some discussion on the legality of shark fishing but since were were not targeting sharks, we were perfectly in compliance with the law. We thanked the officer and she went on her way.
It is good to know the laws and even though we do not fish for sharks on the beach, we have friends that do. We discovered Delray Beach has a city ordinance that shark fishing is not permitted within 300 yards of a public beach. So that means if someone were to target sharks from the beach, you would have to first of all be permitted by obtaining the license from www.myfwc.org and then make sure you are fishing on a private beach at least 300 yards from the boarder of a public beach.

Be respectful,compliant,legit and under the radar. That being said, i always keep the conversations to a minimum. Only offer the info that they are asking for, only ask questions pertaining to the interaction, and try NOT to kiss cops a$$es during the interaction. No need for it and if you are legit, they will vanish faster. And great job with the baby turtle. Hopefully it didn’t get digested.

@ Was there in September. Fishing wasn’t to good. No bait fish in the water. Found out just before I left that the inlet just north of us had a ton of mullet. Just hadn’t made it south yet. A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work.

The reason you don't touch them or pick them up is because the time and struggle it takes them to reach the water helps to build up resistance and agility to survive once they reach the water. It is crazy when they hatch during daytime and they get hammered by seagulls and other predators. We try and escort them to the water where i live but you can't touch them...

Well, the kids are our kids… Been fishing beaches for 30 years and nobody has ever gotten hurt… we only fish private beaches away from crowds and never on public guarded beaches. 🤷‍♂️
