I like the home made baiting tool. Is that definitely 2.5mm stainless steel welding rod?
@PiscatorUK-Fishing3 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, it’s actually 1.6 mm. I had a few questions about that and I must have had a rush off poo to the brain during the video.I will pin your comment to the top so most can see it. Cheers for watching again👍

What size dowel have you used for the one in the video? I’m thinking of making a few and in particular one using a section of brush handle for whole squid and big lug baits for uptiding.
@PiscatorUK-Fishing3 жыл бұрын
@@Slow_Horse Hi mate the dowel in the vid is 12mm for my small baits, I have a few different sizes for different baits. Brush handle would be good size for big baits. For my larger baiting tools I use a few more prongs for support and the bait still slides off super easy after wrapping.

Another comment about the baiting tools. I made 3 of different diameters with stainless welding rod and I’ve been using them for a year. What a brilliant idea, I use them for baiting with absolutely everything. They are excellent for making squid/bluey wraps for ray fishing and with big crab baits for hounds. Made a set for a mate and he thinks they’re great too.

Just stumbled across your channel . I fish Seafield in Edinburgh regularly behind the treatment plant on the curved sea wall. Really good sport there. Fish not massive but decent amount of Dabs and Flounders and I've had codling and coalies out of there recently. Was there today and had another good session..Very underrated and overlooked venue and only a short walk where you can park your car from. There's a small beach down below also . Bluey is king for bait there but I've also caught on mackerel , black lug and whiting on squid rings from the supermarket. Would love to try Dunbar one day. Keep up the beach vids 👌
@PiscatorUK-Fishing3 жыл бұрын
Cheers for watching mate, I used to fish seafield as a kid as I’m from and grew up in Edinburgh. I didn’t know that side of the pipe was any good,. I use to dig for lug and rag on that side. Cheers for the heads up on the venue I will certainly give I a go sometime. What tide states work best?
@gerbiljaws13773 жыл бұрын
@@PiscatorUK-Fishing cheers for the reply. Yeah right behind the treatment plant on the walled walk. The best spot is where the graffiti says "end of acid". I've never blanked there. I used to fish behind the cat and dog home at Seafield but never had luck so moved down to the wall and it's produced really well for me. Today I chanced an earlier tide and it worked but I normally try and aim for a 4 or 5pm high tide in winter. I get there around half 1/2 then fish till about 6. People really turn their nose up at Seafield and I haven't a clue why. If you want just sport and don't mind what you catch then it's a really good mark

Really like your boom rig where you can take off the snoods. Can you give some dimensions?, as I want to build one. Thanks
@PiscatorUK-Fishing4 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, I think the booms are just light wire booms only about 10cm long, main rig body was 60-70lb but you would get away with 50lb. Booms 2 feet apart, you can have them closer together but you will need to fish short snood lengths. Snood length can vary from 10inch to 18 inch. It’s up to you really, just try different lengths to find what works for you. I prefer the longer snoods as I find them better for unhooking the flatties especially if you use attractor beads. Hope this helps?
