@H2C, the AM sunrise shot in the harbor was money! With the LC110, check hook sharpness or replace the factory hooks with VMC/ Mustad/Owner/Gamakatsu. Remember hooksets are free, grip'em and rip'em!
@Hook2Cook5 жыл бұрын
True! I will definitely do that. I will stock up on hooks for sure and replace them

And thanks! I packed the drone because I knew the sunrise would be breathtaking catching those birds in the waves was awesome!

Great video thanks for sharing, what is the best length of rods for surf fishing??
@josephsaucedo86912 жыл бұрын
I only live 11/2 miles from the beach your fishing on. it common for them to be in real close. Go early or later in the day at high tide. And yup a long leader and a pumpkin seed worm or geen with red glitter 2 in long worm should do it.

Nice video! Maybe your rod is too light to set the hook and also using light rod when you hook up on a striper, will tend to bounce back or recoil more and you’ll get a slack on your line, unless you loosen your drag and play with the fish till it get tired. 😉

Oh wow! thanks Pare. Welcome to my channel too. I definitely wanted to tire it out. There was so much in play with that fish. You're right. the light setup couldn't drive the hooks home... I will target them specifically soon with heavy gear! Cant wait!

Thanks Rodney! Losing that striper was a heartbreaker, but it's OK.

Hey Edward, if your up in Templeton any time soon I have a Japanese seabass rod with a little more backbone that you can try out. Will easily drive the hooks into a striper's jaw, yet still soft enough for perch fishing. Better yet, meet on the coast one these weekends. Great videos by the way, subscribed!

Great video. I am heading to Avila beach tomorrow with my family. Can you recommend good spot for surf fishing around Avila Beach area?
@Hook2Cook4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Avila isn’t bad. Pismo is good. Just south of Avila.

This trip was definitely a learning experience. We could have continued to stay in that one spot and fished in more thoroughly, but with a limited time decided to go to A different beach. Once we arrived to the next spot, it wasn’t an improvement so we ended up going to Guadalupe beach where our friends were catching fish but we simply ran out of time there. Oh well have you guys had challenging days like this? Tell me about them. Make me feel better

you ever run a Carolina rig for perch? i run it with either 2 sand worms or ill throw a little curly tail on the back hook works wonders!

Sorry older video but how's the bite in Avila compared to Monterey for stripers and perch?
@everetbowles55335 жыл бұрын
You lose a lot of fish with a parabolic rod like that. the softness makes it hard to set the hook on a fish with a tough mouth, like a striper.
@Hook2Cook5 жыл бұрын
Everet Bowles I can totally see that. Not enough to drive the hook home like my heavy action bass gear... I’ve caught tons of striper and I can see how my heavy action rods never had this issue
