Black car is a great song, but still, not the best one. L'Inconnue sounds like a DC bside. How is it generic when in fact the album is their most experimental since teen dream?

we clearly have different ears then (and that's OK btw ;) I would hardly call it experimental. it's a new direction for them, but not a new direction in music. but have you listened to a lot of shoegaze? "Dark Spring" or "Dive" are really pretty generic (Slowdive did it better). and in most of the album I lack strong hooks - or there's a track like "Drunk in LA" which starts really promising but never moves anywhere (compare with "Silver Soul" or "Wild")

@@charliez077 Just to add to this, I don't think there's an issue with the whole 'Slowdive did it better' thing. When I've listened to too much Slowdive for the day I love that I can come to those songs for more great music (even if it's not *as* good). tl;dr I don't think it's worth disregarding songs because another band has done it better.
