Yes, it did mate - Full ballroom at the end, and on the other side, a separate area / platform for boarding steam boats! 👍👍👍

Aha you mention taps... there were some on Exmouth seafront on the Mare. Just press the top down for water. One day my friend and I were on the Mare on our bicycles playing fire engines, we had Squeeze bottles (washing up liquid bottles) in our saddle bags... Then there was a real fire at the tennis court, the grounds man had lit some dry grass, but it got a bit out of control... We dashed over to ask if we could help, He was rather surprised when we produced our water bottles and squirted loads of water on the grass, fire under control... we then rushed back across the Mare to the taps to fill up our bottles. I never forgot that day and now you reminded me. Thank you. Bill.

Brilliant - I think the tap underneath our shelter was also the 'push and hold down' sort too - Perhaps that's why I wanted to play with it? Because it was an 'unusual' way for a tap to work ! 👍👍👍

Hello Bill thank you so much you certainly did my photos justice. My Dad would have loved after all these years someone would want to see them. There used to be lots of boat trips leaving off the beach, and isn't it a shame the shelters and the sand are gone. They have some crazy ideas, what they have done on the east coast where I live is keep putting more sand on the beach, so much that it's blown everywhere crazy. Will look forward to seeing John's photos see you tomorrow Carol

The lovely Bellavista on Carols old photo lovely, shame those shelters have gone ahh, the lovely shimmering light reflecting on the wet beach near to the Pier beautiful, Carol's picture indicates more activities were available on the pier back in the day, wonder how often the pier supports are inspected ? Nearly missed this today Bill. Glad to say our tide was in today when the mailboat managed to come in between gales, it means we didi not have to crawl over wet slippery rocks with a dinght to fetch in the mail. Lovely video... Yes I remember the fifties dear Carol.
