Thank you for the _excellent_ forward view video. I’d never thought I would see a video of this trip in many years.

What an awesome ride. Love all the street running! Always wanted to live in a house next to a railroad.

Glad you enjoyed it - it's probably my favorite train ride in my area.

That's an awesome shot from the train. What amazed me was how much street-running the train did getting from the tunnel over to the boardwalk. The industrial parts of Santa Cruz were a little "meh" but the redwoods were downright incredible!

I miss when you rounded that bend, it was the train yard! I am 43, born in SC, I been riding the beach train since I was a kid. Love this video, thank you!!!

I remember the good old days when UP used to run on the branch too, sucks that it’s lost all its customers, I’ve heard that they are making a commuter rail line to Santa Cruz

What model of horn does the engine have? It doesnt sound like a normal freight train. I like it
@evanswinford71656 ай бұрын
@@capricapri9756 I think it’s a special quiet horn for all the in town street running being done. I could be wrong though.
@kaib.ocampo79565 ай бұрын
@@evanswinford7165 Some type of Leslie. Either a two chime horn or a RS3T

I love the wig-wag signals. I haven't seen those since in service the early 2007. Does this railroad service any of these spur tracks when they aren't running passenger trains?
@tsgmultimedia2 күн бұрын
Those signals are actually quite rare to see these days!

What a gorgeous ride! Is the new halfway siding for running shorter trips from Felton?
@rorychristy21514 ай бұрын
2 things I noticed… No homeless camps on the way up the grade from SC like there used to be… And the new siding at Rincon… Are they going to make a passing track, or just leave it a spur for maybe storage? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanx

I’m very surprised they are still using those locomotives. Just last October when I was there, the EPA was all over them because the locomotives are not up to date. The locomotives were supposed to cease operations by January 1st 2024. I heard a while ago they got an extension but I didn’t think over a half year later those locomotives are still running.

Pretty interesting but slow ride. The prime movers are interesting, they sound just like those on the old EMD F7 derived Nohab locomotives that are still commonly used on freight services in Denmark where I'm from. Though this service seems awfully slow, especially once outside of the street running segments. I dont see why it couldnt go 30 or even 40 miles per hour through many of these segments.
@tsgmultimedia5 ай бұрын
It sounds like a F7 because it is a converted F7. The track this train is running on will not support faster speed safely.

Egads. Nice view. But if it went any slower it'd be going backwards. Be nice if these kinds of excursions could go somewhere near the actual revenue speed just to see what it was really like back then.
@tsgmultimedia6 ай бұрын
I think you missed the point altogether.
@norcal03086 ай бұрын
But Excursions are their revenue. 50 mph sight seeing not so fun.
