This is one of those rare gems. Not reversed, high quality, raw sound, American freight, front cab view, not to mention an awesome horn. Thank you for uploading this.

I'm at home in the midwest, it's 8 degrees (F), fires have been raging through L.A., but now we get to see exactly why California has been drawing people to it for many years. Beautiful!

I’m 58 years old, I’ve lived in California off on half my life. The state is mostly arid, a lot of the coastal and alpine mountains have very flammable vegetation, even more so after a long dry spell. There are some places people just shouldn’t build. They should let it be unspoiled like this.🤔🤔🤔🤔

Absolutely fantastic video - the sights, the sounds, the camera location and direction - and what a view of the Tehachapi Loop! Please add mine to the voices asking for the rest of the run to Mojave. The piercing blue skies and fresh green of the hills are helping me through up yet another week of cement-gray skies here in the Midwest. And the sounds of that locomotive - wow! Best of all, I get to continue the journey by looking up lots of the objects and items and locations we got to see and that I am curious about. Thank you for this fantastic, and I look forward to your future uploads!

I wholeheartedly concur with @ATSFSuperChief . Over the years I've collected over 200 professionally-produced railfan videos, including about 20 cab rides, and this video ranks right up there with the best of them. All it's missing are some periodic graphics indicating the major landmarks in terms of sidings and road crossings. Great work with the wide-angle camera showing much more of the scenery along the track than usual. Also wise choice of outstanding weather and time of year. I live in the Los Angeles area and have visited the Tehachapi area every few years for the last 50, including this last October. It has to be the mecca of great railfanning.

Wow!! I've driven that stretch of 58 many times and stopped to watch the loop traffic at the Loop Overlook. Always wondered about the stretch between the loop and Caliente. It's such gorgeous country. Next time I drive the Lions Trail (Caliente Bodfish Rd) from Lake Isabella to Caliente, I'm going to stop at the Cesar Chavez Monument (didn't know it was there until your video!) So thank you so much for this marvelous ride through the southwestern tip of the Sierra and the wonderful Loop!

Great video, particularly as it includes the new track at the top end of Walong. I visited the loop twice, back when it was grey team versus blue team (1977 and 1980). I even had a ride on a track speeder from Walong to Woodford (officially arranged in advance, I would add). There were no trains running on the second visit as a Santa Fe intermodal had come to grief at Monolith. I had wondered why we had overtaken an SP truck loaded with track panels on the freeway. It has changed in some places over the last 40 years, but it's still recognisable in others.

GREAT video and thanks for sharing! LOVE the "beefy" horn! I am VERY familiar with this area since I used to live in San Jose and traveled on Hwy. 58 in these mountains many times in the last 50 years on my road trips and still travel though them back to the Bay Area from where I live in New Mexico. I did not know that there were that many tunnels in these mountains. Glad you sound the horn when approaching a tunnel in case someone is illegally inside it and hopefully can escape before the train comes with very little room on the tunnel sides. What were all those yellow boxes on the sides of the tracks? I bet the RR workers have to be VERY careful when working along the tracks in that rattlesnake country, esp. when there are piles of materials near the tracks. Keep the videos coming!
