I wondered what it was like on other beaches and it looks the same as North and Sourh Carolina. North Carolina is more different bc of the islands and some towns keeping it historic. Even the water looks the same. Glad you brought me along to see other places Thank you for that! I became disabled 15 years ago so you folks that travel are my feet and my eyes! Good luck, Be Safe!

Gin, I've water hunted at Gulf Shores some over the years. That surf is so rough that a lot of the times I had to leave good sounding targets right where they were because the waves washed the sand and shell fragments back into the hole as fast as I could dig...and I used a Stealth Sunspot 720i water hunting scoop which is one of the best water hunting scoops ever made. Before that, I used a RTG 6" Monster scoop made of stainless steel...which was a very strong water hunting scoop but I had problems getting down to the targets before the sand and shell frags got washed back into the hole. Of the 2 scoops, I think the 720i scoop works best in rough surf to retrieve targets. I mostly used a Tesoro Sand Shark (Which is a PI detector)....I have also used a Fisher 1280-x and a Fisher CZ 20. I have owned over 30 detectors over the last 38 years. I've owned 5 water hunting detectors...that CZ 20 was one a friend owned and I borrowed it a few times to beach hunt with and shallow water hunt. Metal detecting has been a very fun and interesting hobby for me.
@LuckyGin2 жыл бұрын
It’s really nice to hear that it wasn’t just me struggling to get the targets out of the surf. I was experiencing everything you described. It was really tough! I hope to find some beaches this summer with surf a little more friendly to water detecting.🙂🍀

@@LuckyGin where do you live? I was just wondering if you have to travel a long distance to get to Gulf Shores? I don't live near there, and I don't get down there very often, but I'd like to get back to Gulf Shores this Summer if possible, but I am going through a medical problem....I have been taking radiation treatments for cancer of the larynx....vocal cords....in February, when the doctor was trying to do a biopsy on the spot on my vocal cord, they couldn't get my heart regulated and after finding out that the arteries going to my heart were clogged pretty badly, the surgeons did a 4 way bypass on me. That was a whole lot of pain and even now I feel some pains when I am not careful what I do. This radiation stuff is really painful to deal with (Feels like my neck is on fire and the skin on my neck is red and looks like the skin is trying to come off in front under my Adam's Apple. And I never have been a smoker other than trying it shortly as a teen. So, you see, I have some issues gong on. I tried to get out on the beach with my cousin a few weeks back and found out that I just couldn't do it at that time....but I hope to sometime after I heal up from this radiation stuff. Maybe we could do some beach hunting together sometime coming up. I also like detecting in parks, around old home places, etc.

My sister and brother in law had a beach house down there when I was a kid. Where all those high rise condos are was nothing but sand dunes. There was one state park that I can remember. But you could just park anywhere go over the dunes set up and have a whole day with your family and friends and not see another person. It was sublime. Still pretty down there though, but nothing compared to what it used to be.

I used to go to Gulf Shores and spend all day surf hunting with my Sand Shark PI detector before trying to make my way back to my vehicle. Let me tell you, I was slap worn out tired when I finally got back to my car. When I got back to my car, it was way past dark and I would get in the car and open up my ice chest and get a few snacks and drink a couple soft drinks and generally rest and recuperate a while before cranking up and heading away from the beach. Gin, I usually start my search at the public fishing pier and search along until I am a good ways past the PINK PONY club....I'd say probably around a couple hundred yards past there. It is usually before 10 AM when I start and I keep going until it gets dark. By that time I am tired and way down the beach from my car. I usually lay down in the shallow waves and rest a while before trodding back down that long beach to my car. I take an icebox full of ice and snacks with me and when I finally get back to my car, I rest a little while and then I get a drink and a couple of snacks out of my icebox and eat and drink a bit before leaving the beach. It's a hard day, but also a fun day (For the most part).

When I am able I hunt by myself around Pçola and Destin. I've bumped into several piles of quarters and nickles but never any jewelry. I cannot imagine that the fellas aren't stacked up like cordwood wanting to help you with your camera work and/or hunt with you. Be safe.

Great looking beach and clean. Nice not finding so much junk lol. Love the silver ring. Curious of the weight ? Keep up the great videos. Putting that area on my list of future visits 🍀👍

I still need to buy a little scale and also a diamond tester. I’ve still got a list of about 7 more items I need to add to my gear.🍀

That symbol on the ring means James Avery Silversmiths. Very, very collectable. James Avery is like the Tiffany of modern silver jewelry.

I love that you added some great humor to the vid with the WARNING heads up, or should I say Bottoms up, LOL!!! How can your hair look so great after wearing a hat most of the day, mine would be like an unruly hay stack. Keep the great hunts coming
@LuckyGin2 жыл бұрын
Haha, I didn’t realize that lady did that until I was reviewing the footage. Figured I might as well have some fun with it.😜. I just have wild beach hair and don’t worry about it; it’s naturally curly so it’s going to do whatever it’s going to do anyway.🙂🍀

I’ve worked in Gulf Shores for 29 years and live about 35 minutes due north of town. Love the town but not so much the crowds in Spring and Summer. Lol

That ring is a James Avery. He’s a high end silversmith in Texas.

I lived in Pensacola Florida for 7 years.Do make sure you wear your suntan lotion on all exposed parts. That white sand will burn you to a crisp reflecting that sun. :) I've practically had 2nd degree burns over it. Looking good and having fun. Good luck swinging. :)
@LuckyGin2 жыл бұрын
I learned pretty quick about that sand and sun. The first day I used spray sunblock and every spot I missed was burned. I promptly bought lotion so I could be sure I didn’t miss the next day.😉🍀

I normally use white's metal detectors. Today I found a couple of fisher metal detectors at the flea market, and decided to get them to try. Gold bug II, and the other I have to take a closer look at. I think beach detector.
@LuckyGin2 жыл бұрын
Gold bug II is a good one; hopefully the other one is too. 🍀 if the other was a CZ21, you scored big time!

Hello Lucky Gin. Wow, that’s a very nice ring. James Avery jewelry is a big part of metal detecting. Probably more than half my rings I have found are J.A. Thanks for sharing with us. See you on your next vid. _/ 👍🍀
