Good to see another electric motor on a sail boat. As many keep saying it won't work, its great to see another proving them wrong. Just installed a 10kw motor on my Contessa 32 so yet to launch and see how it goes.

Im definitely pushing it to the limit this winter running mostly hyrbid against arctic outflow winds and blizzard white out conditions.
This is my favourite video so far. Great music and I love the pulling up the anchor.

Excellent video. She looks pretty with all her Sails up. Close hauled definitely will keep you on your toes. When you said beachcombing, at first I thought you meant with your sailboat, yikes!. In my youth I used to work on tugs, Rivetow straights, Seaspan, Pacific tug& barge etc. I get your issue on haul out, I owned a westsail 32 for 35 years, and the front belt was always an issue for slipping on haul out. When in Nova Scotia at one time my boat had slipped off the belt. My bowsprit smashing into the dock. But thank God we were only a few feet up, and surprisingly there was no damage . May I recommend to place some markings on the hull by your capping-rail where the belts should be placed. It takes the guess work out . And yes the front belt should always be tied back to the aft belt or similar. Some people who work in boatyards can be clueless, especially when they think boat owners are. Though many boat owners are. They shouldn't have left your boat sitting on a 10 degree heel on stands. Personally I wouldn't go back, unless they are the only game in town. Good luck on your captains ticket

Mi friend has a steel version on my boat and in this same yard that shall not be named the front strap slid off as the worker was putting a block under the boat. He lost his thumb. Stressful haul out I was worried about staying in the yard so she was back in the water within 48h

I would add maybe see if you can find a flir camera for sailing in the fog. It will really help, I have used them in my transport vehicles and I am totally sold on them. I am adding one to our boat as well. Happy sailing. 😎

We live in a beautiful province. :-) I don’t know if you’re in the market for a new battery, but Renogy has a special on their 200ah lithium battery. Comes with Bluetooth and a robust bms. $1199 free delivery to most non-remote cities.
@sailingokasolo68012 жыл бұрын
thanks but im assuming those are 12v batteries and may not have a bms capable of a 250a discharge rate if I go full throttle. I ended up building my own diy lithium battery out of reused electric car cells 1000$ for 16x 260ah 3v cells (equivalent to 1040ah @12v with a bms that can handle heavy use and does Bluetooth
