Thanks to you guys I have a solid steel head salmon tackle box and have been so excited to get in the water. Trying to know where to go has always been a challenge. I’ll try a new road or river system each weekend and just go up a little further or go a little deeper and I think now I have a few places I know will bring me some fish this year is when I get to put all the tips tricks and time spent out and about to use. I have never caught a steel head or salmon but I know this year is the year. I will post my first fish when the day comes thanks for all the time and detailed effort you are willing to share with a new resident of the north west.

I'm 34 years old and have been fishing my whole life in PNW and i had only caught maybe 10 steelhead before. I finally tried bead fishing last weekend for the first time after watching your tutorials and i caught 4 in a few hours including my biggest to date! 17lbs 8oz! I was running a double bead setup with a 10mm and 6mm under a bobber dog. I cant wait to get back out there! You guys freakin Rock!!!

I don't fish em much , but 12mm soft bead all the way when I do . Drift fished pegged above a size 2 hook. Back in the day my dad fished mainly size 8 corkies yarn and a 2/0 hook. Many were caught on that rig.I think a larger profile is good.

These sizes work dandy!! I’ve drifted my setup right behind other guys and picked up many fish that wouldn’t touch anything they were throwing! I usually peg a ten mm hard bead onto my leader then just let one of these small Addicted Soft beads rest on the top of my hook and kind of free slide inbetween the pegged bead and hook works killer! 🤘 where can we post a picture of a steelhead caught on your beads? If we don’t have social media? 🎣

I’m going to have to go with the 7 or 8 because that is what I just watched. I have only ever fished for steelhead 2 times both guided trips on the same river. So now I’m trying to figure it out on my own and find something closer.

Same with me. It was an old orange bead out of my dads tackle box. I used a pink pearl nail polish to change the color to what I wanted. Nailed a 15.2 # hen the first cast. I don’t use beads that often. I do keep a few in my head so it is always available. The soft beads look great

I heard from a dude in GrassPants that a dude from Roseburg invented this technique a hundred years ago, and he used a 50 foot leader and called it “flossing the rogue”.

Guys, please do an instructional on twitching worms for steelhead! I’m sure it’d be deadly on a 1/4 or 1/8 jighead🤔

So, when you tie your bead in with those 3 knots, your line won't break at that knot when fighting a fish? I usually us 8# leader.

People think I’m nuts but I’ve never used over a size 2 hook when using beads for steelhead. I’ve just found that they like small presentations on the system I fish. I do fish larger hooks when running eggs. I’ve also moved to pre tying my leaders and hooks when running soft beads. I started glueing the soft beads onto the hook the day before I head out. That way I’m not popping and flossing. They are swallowing the bead and hook

Hardest part about bead fishing Alaska is the fish are picky and beads have to be perfect for the “hatch” meaning they gotta match species that is spawning the right size and color is key.

In Alaska scent is considered bait. They will check for oil if they are being hard asses. Guides on Kenai still soak their plugs in scent when bait is banned. 🤷‍♂️
