I always wondered how this was done. I inherited my great grandmother 's bead loom which is 150 years old made of walnut. I also have all of her antique glass beads and jet beads. Now I'll have to try doing this! Thanks

I finally understand how to add thread and what to do with the old thread. Every video I ever watched just made the adding and getting rid of the old thread more difficult and complicated. I now understand the craft so much more with this video than any other video I’ve seen! Every bracelet until the bracelet I’m making now has had thread come out where I added new thread. Thank you so much!❤❤❤

Thanks for the tip of tying off the in-work thread on the warp thread. Never thought of that. I have a tip for you for trying off the cut threads at the end. Thread each one on your needle and tie off the same as mid-work!!! Eleminates hand knotting, glueing, and trimming close to the knot. Cheers!

If you are using the loom provided with the kit, I would strongly recommend anchoring the loom to your work surface. I used duct tape across the bottom the loom. It holds the loom firmly in place and allows you to work much faster without the loom moving around. It is especially helpful when putting on the first row, which can be tricky if you’re a beginner.

Thank you so much for watching! This is a great tip!

As another suggestion, I used a post it note to keep my place on the pattern. Something that can be easily moved and reused as you work. If you have to leave, you can quickly pick up where you left off.

This is an old craft made new for another generation. It is easier and also strengthening your work by using two needle and thread strands, working from both of the edges in a figure eight, one needle and thread going below as she shows and the other needle and thread passing through the beads about the loom threads. Done properly with two needle and thread strands your work will last for decades. On a side note it is also easier to replace/break a bead if needed.
@doremenz58516 жыл бұрын
With this method rings to belts can be made, you are only limited by your loom size/choice and your imagination . Enjoy!

Your instructions are great except for two things. I was told to remove the metal rod after the warp is strung. And when doing a row, you first put your needle under the warps, pick up your beads, holding them in place then go through the beads above the warp. This is much easier than putting the needle in from the side opposite your working hand. I guess it's however you are originally taught.

I’ve never used this particular loom but all seed bead looms have this same issue. Getting the strings lined up on the right notches is mind numbing and frustrating. I’ve found that just using a permanent marker or a tiny dab of liquid white out corrector on every other notch makes it much easier when it comes time to set up your loom. The manufacturer should number them or at least do alternating colored notches.

OMG I'm so dumb I guess I missed the part where she strung her needle because when I got to twelve inches of thread I stop look at the video and she had half of the bracelet done where as I have 1/5th of the bracelet done... I doubled up my thread as if I was sewing. SMH 😂 I think it will be fine if I continue with the correct way now Edit: I ended up cutting all of the thread and starting over the right way because I wanted the side of the string to be even and it turned out beautiful! I finished it in about 6 hours 👌
@itschelseakay4 жыл бұрын
Cristal Lugo I did the same 😆 When she threads it, it looks like she double threads it, but obvious she must not because I had two tails for each row and then had to add more thread 3 times compared to her 1 time 😂 I was so confused until I read your comment and realized what I did.

I have purchase and now made 2 of these loom kits. They are so beautiful when finished but I have one complaint... Julie please do a video and show us how easy it is to do up the clasp that comes with these kits. It looks so beautiful and sleek when completed. But anyone who has even the smallest amount beading experience knows that what looks good isn't always functional. Please put one of these completed bracelets on and show me how you deal with this clasp. Still love your loom kits and have even purchased another 5 of them but I will be making modification to the clasp before giving them as Xmas gifts.
@Lyn48177 жыл бұрын
pearl i I know this is a bit late, but if you are honestly having trouble putting this bracelet on, I can't understand why. It comes with a very simple lobster clasp that you attach one side of the finished bracelet that attaches to the extendable length of chain on the opposite side, from what I can see in this demo. It is a completely normal lobster, jewelry closure. Unless your closure was damaged or incomplete, either in the hardware that was with the bracelet kit or how it was attached. If yours didn't come with a lobster clasp, it would be simple enough to replace, provided the eye was on the opposite side of the closure hardware and the extended chain on the opposite. I am sure if you are still having problems, you should simple photograph your finished bracelet and email it too the company, asking this question again. Or are you simply have a lend of people? If you could manage putting the loom together and making this gorgeous product, then you could surely problem solve any closure short comings!
@lindyhawthorne21647 жыл бұрын
from my experience lobster clasps are usually a nightmare to do up unless you have another person to do it for you sometimes. I would prefer to use a toggle. much easier. I agree with Pearl. Hint: attach a large safety pin or hair pin to end of the chain. this extends the length & can be held under thumb while attaching the lobster. Hope that makes sense. Even a jeweller in a shop agrees with me about lobster clasps.
@bunnypep557 жыл бұрын
Grab one end with a large paper clips. You can hold it in and with the same hand while the other grabs the other end of the clasp, any clasp, brings it around and hooks it up. It was a Eureka moment for me.
@lindyhawthorne21647 жыл бұрын
you can also attach a large safety pin and hold that in the palm of your hand with your thumb and that elongates the bracelet so you can do it up. Hope that makes sense.
