BEADY EYE Liam Gallagher and Andy Bell about Noel, interview in Milan 28.03.2011

"La fine, degli Oasis, è il mio inizio": con i Beady Eye, Liam Gallagher è tornato a nuova vita. Senza il fratello Noel. Com'è noto i due si sono separati artisticamente nell'agosto 2009, quando l'ultimo tempestoso atto della saga dei Gallagher ha decretato la fine degli Oasis. Ma ora Liam riparte con gli stessi compagni. I Beady Eye sono, infatti, Liam, il batterista Chris Sharrock, i chitarristi Gem Archer e Andy Bell: i quattro Oasis senza Noel. Il loro debutto, arrivato con l'album Different Gear, Still Speeding, anticipato dal singolo The Roller, è quello di una band che suona insieme da 15 anni, ed è il più atteso del 2011. Un'avventura che ha portato aria fresca nelle loro vite e nella musica, come ci raccontano Andy e Liam. Quest'ultimo dimostra di avere obiettivi ambiziosi, come risulta dalla dichiarazione fatta qualche giorno fa a Nme: "Voglio che i Beady Eye diventino più grandi dei Beatles". La band è ora in giro per l'Europa e torneranno in Italia il 9 giugno per l'Heineken Jammin Festival di Venezia.

Yeah man, I hear what you are saying. I kind of went the opposite way. I used to listen to only guitar based music then moved to Electronic stuff. I got surprised when I had a tear roll down my eye hearing a cold Kraftwek track - a little synth sound or a beat. Now I'm going back to more guitar based stuff. Well, I try keep it mixed man :)

But no, I listen to Classic Rock, Funk, Hip Hop, Ambient and loads of The Smiths and Talking Heads - bands that generally do something new for music and not just plainly imitating their idols.
