Hey good to see you playing BA. I was in the CBT and here's my tips. 1) Don't fill 1 jet with all your missiles, it's better to have 2 planes with less missiles each than 1 with a lot of missiles 2) It's better to have low alt fighters from the start, they don't show up as early and usually gets first strike 3) Radar Baiting, you can place cheaper AA with radar (PIVADS, SHORAD for US, 6 Missile TOR, Derivestaya for RU) to pull SEAD missiles away from heavy hitters (Patriot, Buk and S300) 4) Hold fire on the snipers, they have good camo + good vision, holding fire on them makes them near invisible unless bumped to directly. 5) You can air lift in vehicles, yes you can carry a himars into the front or a LAV-AD, check your heli's cargo cap and your vehicles weight. 6) Helos with AA missiles are extremely powerful against enemy helos and planes and they will fire at both. 7) know the difference between HE and Cluster, HE is anti AA, Mortar Infantry, Building, Cluster is anti armor. 8) When deploying planes mid game, mark the smoke trails, they directly locate the AA 9) big explosions means you hit a supply depot 10) helo resupply and insertion is a great asset. 11) Infantry is great in ambushing, taking hold of an area and scouting 12) Check unit's FOV using left alt (default) 13) Check your units armaments, this is notable as this is how you learn about the VDV Metys having Kords and CAAT Dragons having M2 Brownings that allow them to kill helos quick. 14) You can clear an enemy building by pushing your infantry on it, this is the main role of the Marine Raiders and Strumovezky, they can clean up a 1v2 in a building easily. 15) You can deploy transports as standalone units. You can get upto 4 more LAV-AD like AA for for the Russians and a bunch of Bradleys for the US. I can post more but this is it for now.

RE: 1) Too add even *more* tips and some nuance. It's actually mega critical to have *enough* missiles in your jets to kill enemy helicopters. I tend to take 4x sidewinders, but 2x FOX-2 is mandatory minimum for all jets -- you don't actually need all FOX-3 missiles because you'll merge as you fire your FOX-3's at which point a FOX-2 and FOX-3 perform the exact same. I prefer to have one heavy one light loadout for ASF because heavy fighters get more ordinance per point, and you really, really want that ordinance if you manage to win the air fight -- airdrops and helodrops are incredibly tanky and you will run out of missiles very quickly trying to capitalize on the advantage that your air superiority gives you if you do not take time to bring enough missiles. Use your afterburners when you fight -- turn and burn! 2) Fighters always low. Ideally all your fighters are low unless you're bombing. For SEAD attacks you want to stay low until you believe you're within weapons release distance and then pop up before RTB. 3) I hear that you can intercept SEAD missiles. I have yet to pull this off, despite repeated attempts with various combinations of TOR, Tunguska, Sosna, S-300, and Buk. It seems best right now to leave radar disabled until you are ready to shoot. 4) Holding fire seems to automatically disable when getting fired at. I manually disable all the weapons just so this doesn't happen on accident. I would rather my sniper team die running away than attempting to shoot back. 13) I actually have issues using Metys and CAAT teams -- 3 volleys of missiles is, frankly, barely anything, and they're incredibly expensive to field. I am finding that ammunition amounts are actually at an incredible premium and you are constantly finding yourself in need of ammunition for anything more complex than an APFSDS shell.

Hell yeah, I wasn't expecting to see you covering this game, this was great. I've actually been having the opposite experiences with a lot of stuff in game, I'm surprised to see none of your teammates brought in Patriots because usually I see like 10 of them. And I'm surprised to see you put so much emphasis on the F-35, I don't bring them in most of my decks and rarely see them used, you were definitely getting a lot of use out of them here though, I'll have to play with them some more. The unit I usually bring in to kill tanks and micro heavily is the Viper, but with planes I've been having a lot of success with the Hornet D doing low level bombing runs with a mix of Snakeyes and Rockeyes. If the opponent stacks all their units in a zone, that many bombs can wipe the whole area. If you bring out a Prowler first and then have the Hornet come in low on afterburner and aim your bombing run parallel to the front, you can usually avoid most enemy radar AA and get out alive. One of your opponents did something similar with the Su-34 in this match, I think.
@Beaglerush10 ай бұрын
I really value the F-35 because it's so survivable due to its stealth and it requires very little micro or attention to get almost instant results after calling it in. I like playing frontline too so I hope I get some pub matches where there's too many support units, then I can do some more Marine attacks!

Actually a good educational video. I've enough experience in Wargame to know the stuff you talk about. But this will be VERY helpful to new players. If they actually learn from it. Good job. Best video for new players i've seen yet, many people in BA still don't use the basic tricks you talk about. Didn't show much of a micro with tanks & infantry such as using building with vehicles as cover, shooting & driving back or smoking out, and microing infantry out from building to loose LoS, not keeping your units on top of supply (because it explodes) and so on. Then again, this is a different type of game from your role stand-point.

One question, you mentioned ranges applicable to several systems - how are ranges/distances shown on the map?
@Beaglerush10 ай бұрын
1) Bring up the targeting UI by having a unit with weapons selected and then pressing G and hovering over the ground or mousing your cursor over an enemy target, and it'll show you the distance between the target point and the selected unit 2) Hold ALT to use the LoS tool - from the center of the LoS pie circle to one of its sides is roughly ~1600m, which I use to estimate distances sometimes The game pace can be hard to keep up with but the best way to make it easier is to just focus on one type of gameplay at a time like support, artillery, air strikes or recon, and then just do that one part really well!

Are JSOW bombs / MBDA Storm Shadow bugged or just sensibly nerfed to oblivion? They have a range of 115km and 560km respectively in real life but the F35Bs fire them from around 3.5km in Broken Arrow, if they had their real range you would be able to fire them from off the map xD... Would smoke mortars be good value for a "backline" focus or do you think that would be better served for a frontline focus to decide where they need the smoke? Seems like it would really help getting troops into position or blinding certain angles of an enemy forcing them into either closer range or a better killzone. Probably would be something the player would have to build a habit/muscle memory for. =P
@Beaglerush10 ай бұрын
I think both with front and back its worth bringing in LAV-M mortar carriers but as you say, I kind of agree that a frontline player will likely be able to smoke where they want it quicker without having to co-ordinate it with somebody else. It's a bit easier to just do normal artillery as a backline player because you see things and you kill them at its most basic, so co-ordination isn't quite as necessary as if you're preparing to assault under cover of a line of smoke
@PerfectDeath410 ай бұрын
@@Beaglerush Yeah, I just have the luxury of sitting back and watching people play or opponents play who could benefit from using X, or in this example smoke. So, I try to harness that and think, what situations would smoke work? In your game it was more like, why smoke to blind a target when I can F-35 it? xD
@Beaglerush10 ай бұрын

@Beaglerush10 ай бұрын
Harassing the enemy's backline is a great way to stress them out and break down their decisionmaking too.
@EnterpriseKnight10 ай бұрын
I'm surprised how tactical this game can be sometimes. I'm doing a lot of Shoot and scoot with ATACMS (With Sniper Teams and a lot of infantry to maintain the frontline) and a lot of bombing runs with Harriers despite how bad the fighter/bomber unit tier is. It's fun.
@Beaglerush10 ай бұрын
It's strategically demoralizing when you're in a match where you just get shelled and bombed to hell by your enemy controlling the tempo, but if you can keep enemy air and artillery at bay or dominate those spaces yourself, the room for tactical maneuvers with infantry and vehicles really opens up, sometimes in really minute micro ways like placing tanks and ATGM carriers in specific alleyways of LoS for ambushes. It gets very satisfying.

Do you think the F35 is good economically? It costs over 300 points to bring in and you only get about 70 points back when it RTBs, so it's costing you about 250 points for a 1 off hit. I'm not convinced it's worth it in a lot of cases.compared to buying a "permanent" unit. E.g. you used it to damage an Armata which can be repaired for for ~10-20 points of supply.
@Beaglerush10 ай бұрын
its the opposite, you pay like 70 or 80 max for the ordnance and get refunded the full cost of the airframe if it's undamaged. I think it's very worth it
@acidduk10 ай бұрын
@@Beaglerush that isn't what the game shows, watch your money when the jet returns.
@acidduk10 ай бұрын
Hmm, I checked again. At 19:06 you get a 70 pt refund, but for the strike at 12:50 you get a 200pt refund, and the one at 22 mins you get a full 280pt refund. So I guess if it's damaged you get a (much) smaller refund, but I'm not sure about the 200 vs 280 point refund, both looked like they were undamaged? And a full refund suggests you didn't get "charged" for the ordnance for that one? The plot thickens...
@acidduk10 ай бұрын
Hmm, the strike at 22:00, did you call it off without dropping weapons? That would explain it I think?
@Beaglerush10 ай бұрын
Yes, I did - you're right, at 19:06 the damaged F-35 brings in a waaay smaller refund, which is interesting! I had considered a damaged F-35 strike still about as successful as an unharmed one, but this shows that I need to be more careful and do the math more in risk vs. reward. You and others in the comments have raised the point of F-35 cost though I still think even with the risk of lower refund it's well worth it in a lot of cases, just being able to strike something so instantly and destructively is immensely powerful because no other permanent unit except maybe artillery could do the same so quickly and reliably. That said, knowing about the much lower refund for damaged F-35s will make me consider the risk reward a lot more on less powerful targets, and will probably make me try and suppress enemy AA much harder. It's also really good to know for fighting enemy units; a player who is spamming jets against me that I keep damaging is getting bled of some essential credits.

I haven't played with them much because I don't play RU, however a good way to guesstimate distance is hold ALT to bring up the LoS tool, from center to one edge of the circular indicator that comes up is about 1600m. Also you can select a unit and hit G and mouse over ground or just mouse over a target at all and you'll get a distance between your unit and the target spot in the UI.

how can i tell which units are able to laser designate?
@Beaglerush10 ай бұрын
Check the unit info panel in hangar or action panel in battle for the laser beam + laser burst icon, or just press N with a unit and see if a targeting crosshair comes up. You can see examples of it at 12:03 in the video - the Scout Snipers have the icon in their middle-left part of their action panel in the bottom right of the screen, and then when the F-35 comes in and I select it 20 seconds later, you can see the designator icon in the top left of their action panel.

Having it be an hour is definitely more digestible. And for videos with pause, maybe splitting them into shorter videos covering some specific aspect would be great!
@Beaglerush10 ай бұрын
I might do this! Specifically some short minutes-long videos on things like the F-35 striking, AA setup and so on

for me the hardest part of this game is getting into matches

Hey look, buddy. I'm an F-35, that means I solve problems. I had no idea those jets were so versitile. I figured they were only good against lighter armor and helos, I had no idea you could inflict so many crits on heavy tanks

Hiding tow cars along the spawn road will make people tilt to losing tanks and artillery to recon units lol
