Re: outplaying by not using specialisations; I'm reminded of a favourite mind game I saw in C&C Red Alert 2 where a player picks Koreans and never actually makes their Unique Black Eagle aircraft, watching the enemy player trying to "preempt" the air with Flak/Patriots/IFVs means they have less credits for the standard RA2 tank vs tank battles

This reminds me of a Warcraft 3 mod. Actually there were a bunch of Warcraft 3 mods that were pretty much just like this. I remember a really good one with something like 16 different races, tons of power ups, combos, upgrades and even formation strategy - for how units flank, when they heal, e.t.c. A shame I don't remember what it was called. I loved playing the Dwarves since they were super tanky and had a lot of spell resistance.

Based on what I'm seeing in this video I'm going to go ahead and say that the power up that increases the marksman's range at the cost of lower attack is really, really bad. All it does is make your marksman open up on the enemy's screening infantry a little sooner in exchange for giving them less punch when they're finally shooting at real targets.
