Beagles rescued from breeding facility get adopted

Several beagles found their furever home! Nearly 4,000 dogs were rescued from a lab on the East Coast; now many of there were adopted and are living happy lives.

As a owner of a rescue beagle, I can say they are absolutely wonderful animals, but they have suffered a lot and MAY be affected by it sometimes for years. They MAY have have the dog equivalent of PTSD, they may have nightmares, they maybe clingy, they may be aloof and they may be afraid of absolutely everything. So dont expect a "perfect" pet out of the box, but they are more than worth it if you are willing to put in the time and love.

Yes absolutely. People have to go in with their eyes open and not be adapting to look good. Even rescue dogs get sent back which is sad and wrong. Personally, i think the dogs should be sent to fosterers first, special people who specialize in rehabilitation

they came from a facility in Cumberland, VA and I cant wait to home one. going through the application process in NC. apparently, they've been spread out across the US to get them homes! I hope they get the best forever homes EVER. They deserve it!

It is so great to see that these poor dogs are being adopted. To feel the grass below their paws and to have a lot of space to run around, rather than being in a cage, fills my heart. Big thanks to all that have participated in this huge achievement.

It’s so great that the beagles are already finding their way to homes - they deserve all the happiness and love. What was really helpful, too, was the mention of shelters having other dogs for adoption. The beagle rescue story is so moving and people are coming out of the woodwork to adopt or foster them, but hopefully it won’t lead to other pups who aren’t on TV being overlooked.

Beagles are the greatest. I grew up with a beagle, and he was my best friend and companion. Bravo to everyone who is helping these gentle creatures find homes, and I hope the monsters responsible for the inhuman treatment of these gentle dogs will be thrown in prison. These adorable dogs would have been tortured in labs that use them to test products (Proctor & Gamble, Tide, L'Oreal, Dawn, etc.). Please don't buy products that torture animals in their labs. Look for "we-don't-test-on-animals" icon on products you buy.

As a beagle dad I’m astounded to hear this good news. They are wonderful pets to have and now he’s part of my family. I can definitely see why those awful ppl need them to be test subject. They are not violent, calm, don’t hold grudges and knows how to please their owner. I’m just glad to see them free now.

This us why it is so important to buy cruelty free products. Animal testing is cruel, barbaric, and a life of torture. I can't imagine what these beagles have gone through. I do hope with all my heart, that all animals will never have to live a another in fear and pain ever again. There are God's blessing I grew up with a beagle the same nationality and color they're so beautiful and wonderful but they're also cuddly there's times when they know you're insecure they'll cuddle up to you but if they're insecure you cuddle up to them and make them feel at home they're like little ones they need the TLC tender loving care as always just like a child would cover them up with a blanket at night and gather toys around them they'll love you forever always make sure they have plenty of food and water so they can eat when they feel that they can they're God's blessing and I'll tell you what you're a blessing to all of you they need to love and understanding they listen when you're upset or if you're crying they come up and they give you like send kisses they're very very loving bagels but they're also very understanding and they listen now they need your help after being in an animal lab that was not acceptable behavior of cruelty and neglect and abuse on vehicles that did not deserve it I feel whoever started this should feel the punishment of what they did to The Beatles they've always been loved since they were little they're very sincere when you take them places and carry them around like a baby doggy strollers blankets covers coats shoes cleaning them up girl and making sure they're clean all the time until they get a beautiful coat on because they shine they're so loving thank you so much for finding them good homes I keep reaching out to others for other dogs who may need a home as much who needs to know their Love by all and who cares about animals who's willing to have animals on a farm it's a God's blessing when they're around and they also let you know as dark animals they will protect you in a way that others don't understand you took them in and they're the best blessing in history I grew up with a beagle and I slept with my beagle when I was a young one I felt very secure they're beautiful dogs and very understanding you're always talk to him like they're human beings that's what's funny still even let you know when they have to go outside to go potty after training them they're not hard to train they're very loving beagles thank you so much I'm glad this is a blessing that they're getting all the homes and blessings they need God bless every one of you keep reaching out with animals online so that they have good homes and that there well-beings are taken care of by those who can afford it always suck at the home to make sure it's sterile and sterilize for animals and always look at the background of the people who will always love them with the blessing God bless everyone of you thank you so much thank you thank you thank you hang in there Stands Strong and keep opening the doors to people's hearts they need to be loved too just like the rest of us they're human beings at heart and they can make you laugh and they can make you cry hang in there I'm proud of every one of you you came so far to get these animals homes and the love they need thank you so much you all have a good day and God bless bless the bless the pups because you all brought them in and you had the heart to find homes I hope others will adopt animals I love animals but right now I can't adopt one until I know I have a place I will not take an animal to the streets it is neglect and abused to the animals rights just like a child I just want to see these animals being raised properly not by homeless people all because puppies cry when they're in the rain they're cold and they shiver all over not knowing where they're going to sleep the next night not knowing whether they'll have a meal most of them who are homeless in the streets the dogs go without most of the time they need to know that they're wanted and loved by all God bless you and may God help you with the animal sightings of all who need homes hang in there stay cool common collected as always I know you can reach out to people with proper sayings please it's mostly important that they have a home and people who will love them forever

OMG!!! 😳 I hope and pray that those people are very educated and they're not ignorant of their circumstances from where they came from! What I'm trying to say is those beagles possibly could have PTSD from where they came from because it has taken a toll on their lives! And in my opinion and not being rude when I say this but it's not a good idea for a child to be around them at the very beginning! 😳 They need to adjust to their surroundings and get to know the humans who adopted them first before they are introduced to a child and not only that but the parents need to let the child know that they need to be very gentle and explain to them what PTSD is! ☹️ They end up having PTSD and that's why! It's possible they may howl in the middle of the night, or it's possible they may bark or cry all hours of the night. There was one Beagle I saw on a video that was recently adopted. And he came from animal testing from a facility, after he was adopted his owner had him on the leash and this poor precious baby all he would do is just walk around in a circle constantly walk around in the circle constantly walk around in a circle. Being held captive in a cage for most of your life or all of your life takes a toll on those beagles. That is why it's not a good idea to have them around children just yet! 🙄 Those beagles are scared half to death still even after they have left the testing facilities! Word of warning it's possible all of them may have developed PTSD and it takes a lot of patience, I mean a lot of patients and lots of love and care for them as well as understanding! I saw in another video where the owner just recently adopted a female and she was scared to go upstairs! She was literally scared half to death to walk up steps! And then I saw another video of one female where she was sleeping and two of her new owners were surrounding her and plus the Humane Society people were with her and all of a sudden she just started crying and howling in her sleep and breathing heavy! So my question is are those people prepared for what could possibly happen to those beagles? It's all fun and happiness for them and for the humans but, people who adopt these beagles from Labs must understand that they could possibly have PTSD and be prepared for it! Possibly they could act weird that you've never seen a dog act weird before! And all of this is because of where they just came from and people must understand that when they get them in their care after adopting them! The Beagle Freedom Project has already sent out a lot of brochures and flyers to shelters that has some of the beagles that were rescued from the Virginia Cumberland county facility recently because they don't know that they will have PTSD and they need extra special care! Just like I see the dogs in this video they are going to need the extra special care and love and attention and a lot of patience from those humans! I mean y'all have no idea! I'm just saying be prepared when you adopt any animal that came from a lab especially dogs! 😳🐾🐾😞 ❤️❤️ It kind of makes me sad and frustrated knowing that the fact they'll be around children at first and that's not how it should be at all, period! Because it is possible all the dogs may have developed PTSD from where they recently came from and they can't help it! And for the people who adopt those beagles needs to educate their children about that so that they can be gentle around them and with them! ☹️

you make some very good points but really seem emphasized only the bad. Not that this wont be the case with some dogs and not that the owners shouldn't be educated but please dont turn it into a horror story. First these dogs were not at a testing facility they wete at a breeder, the pups will probably have few if any issues. The dogs that have been bred will of course have suffered trauma and will be affected by it. I worked with a beagle rescue for awhile and have my own beagle, which was a test subject, and I can say that every dog is different, every one reacts differently, except for one thing they do recover over time, they all need a massive amount of love and understanding, and in the end they are great dogs. One final note in all the cases I have seen beagles that have been in a lab are less fearful and less nervous around children than they are around most adults, but as I said all dogs are different.

It's not true that if their ears are tattooed they came from a facility like this. My local SPCA tattoos rescues' ears to show they've been neutered already. Bad reporting.

Different type of tattoo. SPCA used to put the tattoo on the belly. These facilities tattoo to mark them as to be destined for a test site. What is bad reporting? You would know the difference even if done on the ear.

yes they do, its usually a 7 or 8 letter and or number sequence on their right ear. Mine does as well. I worked with a rescue for a time and know that this is absolutely true. These dogs have no name only a number in the facilities.
