I’m crying right now, the same thing happened to my beagle. He was rescued from a lab a few days before his first birthday and someone had tried to adopt him already. However, they brought him back to the shelter since they realized that it would take time to let him come out of his shell. My family and I arrived at the shelter the day after he had been brought back, I was so happy since I had always wanted a dog but we couldn’t one before because we had a tiny apartment. Since we had moved into a new apartment with a backyard my parents decided that it was the right time to adopt a dog. He was hiding behind a wall so we didn’t see him at first, but my dad noticed something moving out of the corner of his eye. Our dog was watching us from afar and would hide as soon as someone looked at him. We just decided to adopt him because… I mean, it felt “right”. We didn’t even have to ask everyone if we all agreed, the moment he looked at us with his cute little eyes it was over for us. It took some time to get used to the new environment since he had never been out of his cage (one he ran face first into a window because he didn’t know what glass was). Now he is the king of the house and we all are his humble servants! I’ve been away from home six months to study abroad and I miss him so much, can’t wait to finally cuddle with him again!

We adopted a lab beagle 4 years ago. He was 7 then, spent his entire life in a cage and had three electrodes implanted in his heart that got infected and caused him so much pain that it made the family that adopted him prior to us give him up. His surgery was complicated but he breezed through because he’s a strong mf. Now he’s living his life, he looks like a tick that’s about pop. He still is very aversive and hates a lot of petting and eye contact, but I hope the rest of his life is practice for heaven. His rehabilitation required so much patience and care and love, but it was all worth it. He’s the sweetest thing ever and and he looks like a fatter version of Echo haha.

@SakuraSan1015 жыл бұрын
It's like that with humans, too. A lot of times when kids are removed from a bad situation and are given proper care, love, and affection, their personalities change DRASTICALLY for the better. Trauma affects us all, from man to mouse. Which is why we need to be more mindful of how trauma can affect animals, too. Testing for things such as medicine is an unfortunate necessity. But that doesn't mean the animals have to live in squalor and be mistreated. They're providing a service, so they ought to be treated with the same respect that a human person providing a service is entitled to. If you wouldn't lock a human in a cage 24/7 and only let them out for tests, why force another living creature to endure that? I truly believe anyone who would willfully neglect and cause such suffering to any living being is a monster, and will face their sins one way or another. But I digress.

Tested animals are usually killed after an experiment but sometimes they get reused which just makes their life miserable. Animals used for consumption usually go through a humane killing process which effectively ends their suffering in less than a second. An example is a close g*nshot to the brain. That’s the difference. Also, I can be sad for animals being hurt without being vegan. I can eat meat without thinking if this animal died humanely or not because it’s already ready for consumption and I can’t do anything about its past life. @@czechraiser Kill shelters are typically public shelters. A private shelter can deny any animal if they don't have enough resources, but public shelters are typically legally required to take in every animal that is dropped off, no matter how many resources they have. The way to end these kill shelters is to fight for them to be given more funding and help them get the resources they need by donating your time/money. People working at these shelters usually don't want to kill these animals, their job is to take care of them, but the resources are limited and tough decisions have to be made.

Think of it in this way: Some other poor,abandoned and unhappy dog gets to experience your love and gets saved while the one you fostered also gets a forever loving home!

I’m sorry you lost your furry baby. My Bella is 15 now and so I’m savoring every moment I have left with her. My daughter was 3 when we got her and now she’s 18 and in college! They really are like having another child. Rest assured you gave him a good life with lots of love.

Maureen Rocha Yes, thank you. It warms my heart to hear about your pup. I hope you make many more fond memories with her while you still can, and I hope your daughter gets to visit home and spend time with her too. And when the time comes for her to leave you, I pray that it is a happy and painless release for both her and your family. 💗

☆Karma☆ All fur babies are valid babies, it doesn't matter the species or breed. I actually have cats that have helped immensely with my loss. Their purring is incredibly soothing, and they are all pretty young, 2 of them will be turning 2 years old in March, while the other 2 will be turning 2 years old in September. So at least I know I have many years ahead of me with them. ♡ Of course, I still have one dog as well, but he is 13 so I probably don't have long left with him. The worst part about my beagle dying, was watching my Jack Russell's decline. He was depressed and scared and confused for 2 months straight. For the first 5 days he would even eat. And everytime I let him outside, he would go over to the back corner of my yard where I buried my beagle he would just stand there staring at the dirt. Sometimes I still catch him laying on that spot in the sun and it breaks my heart. (I should add that my beagle loved to sun bathe whenever I let him outside, but my Jack Russel never really did it, but he has been doing it a lot now)

My old beagle made it to 14. My favorite moment wih her was when she chased and killed a bunny at 13. It was funny how athletic she was at 13 when most dogs are overweight and retired on the couch by 4

Aby P I personally don’t have that problem indoors as my one sleeps all day, he’s 7 now so he’s not young, however on walks if he wants something that another dog has he’ll stand in front of that dog and howl for ages until he gets what he wanted 😂

Thing is, even if a shampoo for example says on the bottle cruelty free or not tested on animals, that most likely means that the end product has not been tested on animals. However the individual ingredients in the end product have probably already been through tests in the past to make sure that they don't cause reactions etc. 🙁
@the.homicidal.housewife2 жыл бұрын
It would be impossible to fully know which brands and products are "cruelty free" in name only, so I look for vegan products. They are made with 0 animal testing or by products. That's the closest you will probably be to actual cruelty free. You can find multiple vegan brands at Sephora and Ulta.

@voice4voicelessKrzysiek5 жыл бұрын
@@shanewolf8096 In a sense it is fun, but most importantly it gives me a feeling of inner peace - my best attempt to describe this. When you become vegan it changes you. Have to mention here that veganism is a lifestyle, philosophy, based on the principle of not harming or exploiting of animals or more broadly, other beings; that is in contrast to the “plant based diet” which is motivated by health reasons and/or environmental reasons. I live in a small town near Seattle and even here it is very easy to live vegan lifestyle, especially now. There is a global movement happening thanks to which it is getting easier and easier to do that. BTW, you don’t need much, just vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, seeds, etc! 😊

Beagles are used in labs because no matter how much you hurt them, they won’t bite you. How sick is that? I’m amending this comment because a lot of people are saying their Beagles bite. I posted the above comment because it was something I read, obviously I’m wrong.

I find that hard to believe. we had one in out neighborhood while growing up named Barney; he couldn't wait for the chance to sink his teeth in us kids!💗. Anyway, it's inexcusable to test on these poor animals. I remember writing on the topic of vivisection, during my freshman year in college. I'm still dead set against it.

Every time I watch one of these videos, and with every animal I myself have also rescued, I am struck by how these souls are able to forget the past hurts and traumas and embrace their new lives and give themselves over to happiness. It takes patience and love and kindness, but eventually they are able to trust, and you see them full of joy. Often they are happier animals than the ones already living in the house and I believe that is because happiness is a new thing they do not take for granted.
