For the first story you state you don't have the credentials to drive a tank, funny thing is as a civilian you can legally buy and operate decommissioned tanks, of course within proper areas(not public areas). There is actually a company in Las Vegas that lets you rent various tanks and drive them around out in the desert.(turrets/cannon are dearmed an non-functional, though I'm pretty sure the gunner scopes still operate.)

Be Amazed seem to actually make sure that what they are saying has some proof behind it! Even some in the comments have brought up that some of the stories were proven by others to be made up!

Fun fact, in some US states it is perfectly legal to own and drive a tank on the roads. Of course you have to add a license plate and make sure it is no longer able to fire at all. Also it have to be a specific type of tank that was small and can only fit about two people. But it is still legal to drive and own a tank.

I remember watching news footage of that tank theft/joyride when I was little. Tiny-me wondered why someone would steal a tank. There didn't appear to be an actual plan beyond "because I can." We had some trees stolen once. Neighbor was having their property logged. The boundary was well marked, so there was no excuse for taking our taking in ignorance. Dad looked into small claims court against the loggers, but it turned out Neighbor hired a random "company" with no insurance, no permits, and no real information about who they were. They were an under-the-counter operation; not real loggers. (We're pissed at the neighbor for hiring them without bothering to make sure they were legit.) Since these "loggers" were not a real company, the chances of getting paid for our stolen trees was nil. And apparently tree-theft below a certain amount isn't a criminal matter. (It was a few hundred bucks worth of lumber stolen.)
