The tomb of Qin (pronounced Chin - he's the one who consolidated all the warring tribes into one to create the country of China) is supposed to have a river of mercury not as a deterrent to tomb raiders, but to create a miniature version of his empire. Allegedly, the inside of the tomb was built to replicate the land and waterways. Also, the terra cotta warriors were duplicates of his actual army -- each face is different, sculpted to look like one of the soldiers. There are differences in the armor and weaponry too.

As a Wiccan, I appreciate the specification that it isn't the pentacle itself that made the room evil, but the context in which it was used. Many, if not most people automatically say ALL pentacles are evil, which originates from Christians just labeling all pagan practices and witchcraft as Satan's work. For those who don't know and would like to be educated about this; In most pagan religions the pentacle is a five pointed star that symbolizes the elements and unity. Each point is its own element (water, earth, fire, air, spirit) and the circle is bringing all of them together. The pentagram is just the five pointed star, with the same meaning, but typically used differently. In short, the pentacle and the pentagram are just crosses for pagans, as they are in most cases used for protection. The thing is, though, one of the very few rules/basics of Wicca states that really, magick (or magic) is about intent and imagination. The only true rule of Wicca is to spread love and kindness, and DO NOT USE BLACK MAGICK. The pentacle shown in this is BLACK MAGICK, and is incredibly dangerous. People don't actually read into our religion though, so typically, black magick is confused with regular, kindhearted magick.

For the nuclear waste thing - what if you make a kind of a law or put a sign saying that "This sign must be replaced every 10 years into the current language being used here?"? Of course, that would mean the sign should always be seen and everyone must follow the rule, but this idea seems much better than the alternatives. I have no clue what to do if humans move out of there, but uh... it's a start? The cycle could at least continue until it stops at a point where future historians can recognize the language.
@MissFoxification2 ай бұрын
Because much of the human race may die off or go into a severe population decline. If it takes a long enough time for a population to recover or change and there's significant cultural and language change no warning in a recent language may work. There's documentaries on this, on how we can make an area appear hostile and what signs we could use. That's why the traditional "radioactive hazard" sign was changed.
@ScooterinABАй бұрын
While this would be the most logical option, the problem is that it won't work. Multiple civilizations have died out in human history, and the amount of time we're talking about far exceeds human civilization. At some point, even within a few hundred years, the whole thing would be lost, since language continues to evolve and because of human laziness and corruption.

When I used to work for the Sandcastle Resort, on Cape Cod, we had quite a few of these. There used to be a restaurant inside the main building that closed in the 90s. Someone bought the restaurant space and turned it into a large apartment. They died While they were working with concrete in the basement. Bank took the space, and when I was working there the section of basement simply known as the dungeon had a sign that said "no entry screwed shut both sides." When we finally got in there, it was a massive maze of rooms. Old restrooms with steam saunas, packed with boxes of old files. A cedar walk in cooler full of drag clothes and odd things. In the main hallway is the hotel there was a Dutch door that had been screwed shut for so long that nobody knew what used to be in there. I finally determined that it used to open to the restaurant kitchen. Inside the(now) apartment it was just a wall. I removed the door and sheetrocked over it. But before I closed it up, I used black stain to write a message on the back of the drywall with my hands. Something for the next guy to find one day.

For the nuclear waste, why couldn't you have an illustration or series of illustrations on the door depicting someone dying horrifically as a consequence of opening the door? It doesn't have to be an accurate representation of radiation poisoning. It just has to be clear that it's a person getting very sick and dying as a result of opening the door. It could even show their flesh melting off or something. I think an image like that would communicate across generations.
@joshuamarvin74002 ай бұрын
The problem with that is that whenever you design a warning to look like a warning, some people will assume it's a lie to deter thieves, and open it up anyway. Most tombs are etched with curses and threats of doom upon any who disturb them. Doesn't stop humans from cracking 'em open looking for shinies.

@@matthewcox7985 Religions don't survive that long, and even in the unlikely event it did, even with relatively young religions like Christianity, the understanding of the meaning being conveyed has changed significantly over a very short period of time. What we think of as Christianity today looks very different to the original Christians of 2000yrs ago. The trinity as a concept didn't exist until around 200 years after Christs death. Progressive Christians have significantly different understanding of Christianity than Southern Baptist Christians today. This is only around 2000 yrs there would be no way to ensure that 10,000 year from now the meaning would continue to be understood as intended by that religion.
@ScooterinABАй бұрын
To you, they are images of someone dying horribly. To someone else, they might looks like images of a wild party. And there's no way to ensure then people would associate the art with the location. There's plenty of artwork depicting battles that hand in places where such a battle never took place. The other problem is that we're talking about a period of time that far exceeds all of human civilization. We're dealing with an inconceivable length of time. Given how much we've already lost, any efforts to hide it would likely fail and any meaning would be long gone.

I used to work at a Cavern close to Grand Caverns in VA. Many years ago the people who owned Grand Caverns let myself and my coworkers go into the sections of the Cave not open to the public. That entrance you have a picture of in the video is actually not Grand Caverns itself, it is Grand's "sister cavern" known as Fountain Cave. The entrance is actually up the hillside to the left of the Grand Cavern's lobby if you are looking at the lobby in the parking lot. It is very close to Grand, and potentially connected to it, just no connection has been found between them, to my knowledge. I have been in that one, as well. I did not however, find any cave monsters.

There is another under explored cave here in the Roanoke VA called "The Murder Hole" and it's as ominous as the name implies. The entrance is around 250 feet strait down and I have seen it before. Once. This is due to the fact it is on a Privet property and the owner does not grant visits to it much. Even if you do see it, getting down into it is a huge challenge. As far as I can recall, only 5 chambers have been explored and there could well be miles more to be found. So far, it is largely unexplored. I can't even imagine what's down there. The only other cave known to the public is the Dixie caverns. Thankfully they are a tourist attraction that is open year round and seemingly completely explored.

All animals (mainly sheep) out on summer pasture in the mountains Must be "cleansed" in the lowlands for at least a month before they can be eaten. You also should not eat mushrooms in the highlands.

Wow. That is interesting and horrifying. In U.S. we don’t hear much about radiation from it in other countries and how some other countries are still being affected. I’m sorry that this is an issue.

I live in the North of England. Until 15 years ago all our sheep were bought by the government and destroyed as they were considered too radioactive to enter the food chain after the Chernobyl disaster.

@@nobodynowhere2128 its pretty crazy its still a issue. But at least it's not any danger to be out and about in nature. Might want to think twice before eating any mushrooms though, depending on the area.

I was giggling at the Mowbray park pronunciation, I'm from that town and it's pronounced Moe-bray. Sunderland council said the door was to block access to old quarry workings. Across the river theirs another park called Roker park (Row-ker, I think North East England just likes using names that are pronounced differently to how they're spelled) that also has hidden caves, on the coast their was a large series of caverns called Holy Rock (names because of the holes), but after a series of accidents, the unstable rock was demolished and the entrance from the park ravine was blocked off by shutters and gates.

11:47 just keep it entirley locked away with many layers of materials around it and seal it off completley because that much nuclear waste should simpily just stay down there right?

Ask the Marshallese people - they have one island , that's off limits to all , and has a concrete dome , which In need of repair , yet again . Due to the radioactive waste from the nuclear tests , conducted just after the 2nd world war .

The one with the snakes, no! And they made it illegal and punishment will be death! Besides, the only way to get through it would be to blast it open! 😱 What do you do if there's expensive or deadly gas behind the door?
