Water levels in Mario games generally pose problems for players, so why not go the extra mile and create an entire world that plays to its strengths and our weaknesses? There's one threat that causes yours truly to get more than a little stressed out, and it's pretty obvious who and why that is when we come across it. I don't like being chased in games.
Either way, you should notice a pretty sizable increase in difficulty compared to our first two worlds, whether it be new threats or new takes on old ones like Boom-Boom, it seems like everything's out to get Mario here. That's probably because everyone is. At least we have one of the game's special suits to help things go more swimmingly. Whew.
