Watch as I build Swakhammer's Welding Company by Fine Scale Minatures in HO Scale. I am building this as an abandoned/dilapidated building with techniques for adding vegetation to walls and painting realistic corrugated metal roofing.

Such a lovely video. Superb workmanship! I was looking at you cutting that V in the roof with a razor blade, and in the same frame there was the most perfect tool to cut it lying right in front of you. In my experience those wire cutters are THE best tool to cut that sort of tiny parts with precision.

Another great video. The door look really great and real. would have liked to have seen some more video on the crane. Being a diabetic I found the use for the pin sticks to add nail holes but the pounce wheel is much quicker and puts them in a straight line.

Another great build. I like the pace and straight forward approach you project in your builds. As for the paper shingles try transfer tape from 3M. I used it for the first time and it makes roofing much easier. Loyal follower, Joe

I always enjoy your episodes & never critique...until now. My critique has nothing to do with your technique. Your idea of using a dowel to support the chimney stacks is phenomenal. It is something I have never though of. And I have a load of Leaning Chimneys of Pisa. Where you and I differ is in design and details. You fed the dowel to the base and left it exposed within. I on the other hand enjoy detailing Interiors. Lighting Interiors. And detailing animation on both the Interior and Exterior. So now I have to go back to my "Old Houses" and buildings. Which are already detailed and lit. Insert your dowel hack. BUT before doing that I will have to stain and wash the dowels a Flat Cast Iron Black and mold a number of Franklin Stoves or fireplace mantels from Silly Putty. UGH! Where can I find the time. 🎵 Ain't gonna need this house no longer Ain't gonna need this house no more Ain't got time to fix the shingles Ain't got time to fix the floor Ain't got time to oil the hinges Nor to mend the window pane Ain't gonna need this house no longer I'm getting ready to meet the saints 🎵 ~ Jim

My progress is slow enough without doing interiors. If I did an interior, it would probably be an abandoned house when one of the walls caved in - which is seriously a consideration.

Nicely done with the model. Luckily Railroad Kits offers casting sets with the building templates for an affordable price, and hopefully with the ownership change over we'll see more of the large kits being offered.

Thanks for the comments. I bought one of the Railroad Kits casting sets. The problem is that I cannot figure out how to cut the wood accurately to match the template. I think they need to make a good instructional video if they are going to have much success with those.

Thanks for the comments. I don't think you will find these on Amazon. I buy them on Ebay and they can be hard to find.

Another exciting build. Thanks to all you have shared, I have my first FSM kit on the way here and I am gathering the materials for your wood weathering techniques which I think are some of the best for weathered wood. As far as the pounce wheel goes, to each his own but I came across a very neat option for nail holes at my local shop. it is basically a tool that inserts into your xacto handle for nail holes, and you can change the tool easily for different sizes. You may like it better and I found a guy that has sort of a review of it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4m9dpt4l9qrn80. They also have a tool in the series that puts nail holes on inside corners. The thing I like about these is the different sizes, the ease of use or changing out and if you wear out a tool, you can replace the blade instead of the tool, the old blade will make a neat blade for a sawmill too or a scrap pile item. I have also done the exposed stud walls, it is a fantastic effect. Also for the growth on the walls, you should try some Martin Welberg scenic studios, a little pricey but for little effects like that, its a game changer. Look around Stephen Bennetts channel for some of his videos on using it, some of the finest scenery you will see. This is his channel kzbin.info. Thanks so much for sharing. Cheers Rob
