I agree, unfortunately I too am stuck with a few hundred of these still! After 2 cross country moves I am still trying to unload these. I did look into the charity route. I was living in Las Vegas and moving back to NY. I called my local hospital and asked if I could donate these for the children. They had been stored in zip lock bags, and I even went to the trouble of buying cute little bags and tied them in curly ribbon. The hospital said they could not take them because they needed to be germ free. So only things that could be accepted were toys that could be disinfected. So I donated them to a Women's and Children's shelter. They were thrilled to have them. With my remaining ones I think I will donate to special needs kids and shelters as well. It's a great feeling to know you are making some little child happy! Thanks for the video!

I love my beanie babies I have quite a few, even lots of tiny babies. My son was diagnosed with brain cancer I like your idea of giving them to sick children. Thanks for sharing.

I checked it the princess Diana Beanie Babies and you are right to a extent if the bear says it is made with pe pellets then it isn't worth much maybe 26 bucks but if it says p v c pellets then it is worth more mainly because the p v c ones were stopped production because p v c was toxic.

I buy and re-sell beanies everyday. I don't expect to get rich off of one beanie, but I make enough money for this to be a stable and reliable source of income. You'll be fine if you do as the lady in the video suggests: a little at a time. It quickly adds up over the course of just one week.

Really glad I run up on this because I haven't disposed of or donated a beanie baby in y-e-a-r-s holding onto some sliver of hope that maybe one of mine could very well be, just the one that happens to be sought after by some prince or sheikh somewhere just waiting to pay me a grand needed for retirement sum as soon as I decide to list it... Lol. But seriously I do have around 35 maybe even 45 some still in plastic, my question is, would it be worth anything worth 50+ for the total lot or should I just abandon the whole ideal.

I have the peace bear, and I looked it up. It only goes from 5-50 dollars so it's not a get rich fast thing. But I guess I need to hold on to it til I get older

I think you can get a good price for an Indonesian Peace bear, I have seen them fetch £70.00. But you're right, there are none worth thousands of pounds. And the tag mis-spellings don't make them more valuable either. Sometimes the date of birth is not the same as the date the copyright was published, and people think this is an "error", but it's not, they are ALL like this. I got interested in them because I kind of like them but I have never made a profit on one when I have sold them, I usually make a loss. So now I sell other bears like Merrythought ones or anything genuinely rare or limited edition. Thank you for your video, it helps to burst the bubble. The only person who made any money from beanie babies is Ty Warner. I think he made £5 billion. I personally think he should refund everybody. We are all left with a cupboard full of very pretty dusters.

Agree w everything you said. it just makes me wonder, how did those darn articles get written and published without an editor or fact checker figuring out the difference between a sellers "asking price" (on an active listing) vs the supposed "sold" price (on completed listings). years ago BuzzFeed published (yet another) embarrassing article along the lines of "Top 10 Vintage Toys from your Childhood That Sell For Hundreds on eBay" (can't link right now but it's easy to Google). it was like a textbook example of how misinformation gets spread and sensationalized and becomes folklore until, finally, someone learns the truth and is bummed that theyve been hoarding all this old junk for the last 15 years and it's worth practically nothing. so I have to wonder 1) are these articles being written with inaccurate info on purpose? (fake news is NOT a new thing!) 2) or are these editors just fucking incompetent? and 3) when beanie babies were first released, why did ppl believe they should hoard them for selling them in the future? I clearly remember that being part of their appeal, so I sounds like the manufacturers made up this whole "they'll be worth millions in 15 yrs" bullshit. fake news, or just typical PR shenanigans? 4) money laundering through eBay has been happening for a long time, although it's just now being widely reported (and tied to intl terrorism, but I think it's more likely related to the US drug war) sorry to rant. great video, keep up the good work!!

Unfortunately, Snopes is not a reliable source, although I agree that Beanie Babies are not valuable. Great video!
@keylimekisses7 жыл бұрын
Agreed! Forbes and other top publications have done fact checking articles on Snopes and the likes and the facts are no better than the fact checkers who were hired they don't have a format they follow and it can be very biased depending on who is doing the story and what the story is about. I agree beanies most likely are not going to land you in the middle of a gold mine with just one or two but if you have a lot of them they can do just as well as other stuff people put on ebay.
