Another important tip: Use your goddamn pinky. Playing that fast is so much easier on the long run if the pinky is implemented.

i'd like to add 2 things: 1) Pick Shanting is a technique that helped me a lot 2) Try to use 1.0mm+ picks. The thicker the pick the more control you have over it

great exercise, but I advise you to do it also in the direct picking way... but the first stroke is sweet picking, and the second is alternative picking (internal transition from e to h string, best regards , edy

Why should you limit yourself? To be the master of what you already know. A bigger palette means more ways of expression, but not a better player as we think about it straight. We don't use all techniques we know every time

Noob question: are you starting alternate picking on an up stroke or down stroke? In the clip it looks like an upstroke. Is that preference or for efficiency? Also, thanks for the video! Love your stuff!
@garfieldfan3892
@garfieldfan3892 11 күн бұрын
Generally outside picking is easier, so starting with an upstroke, but do both. Ascending three note per string runs require both

@daniiltkachuk7519 learn the patterns/scales locks whatever very slow. Once you know them repeat them or if it's too long repeat a part In an endless loop and burst some sections then play it at normal speed play it slow burst and so on. play it way above your speed level fuck it up completely and then go back to burst method. This helped me to play things I thought I could never play in about 2 weeks

What you describe at the beginn is called retardando if im correct... imo it's the most important thing in heavy music... blast beats during the hole song doesn't work for me... If you slow down and come back to the same tempo, it sounds more heavy and faster then before, but it isn't... A beatiful effect that many bands overlook...

@ well I have my pick slanted but I still tend to get caught up on strings or my left hand won’t cooperate.
@repalantala
@repalantala 10 күн бұрын
When doing 3 notes per string, you need to change the slant direction every time you change strings so you don't get stuck in the strings and can "escape" the string.

I have a question haunting me for the longest time, as shown on the exercises, you started with a upstroke on the E string, then downstroke on the B string, the thing is, sometimes I see people doing the opposite, and when I try to play licks like "1 on E string then 3 2 1 2 3 on the B string, then back to the E and repeating", like a zigzag pattern, my hands get confused I start thinking what is the best way when there is just 1 note on another string, in this case, is a downstroke on the E string better because it's more economic, or the other way around, an upstroke on the E string to follow the up-down motion, and when there is a even number of notes on one string and a single note on the other string, my hands get all messed up, like this "3 on the B, 1 2 3 2 on the E then back to the B", the natural motion seems to be changing every cycle, while an economic picking would be more constant. hope you can understand and sorry for the long ass explanation.
