As someone who was brought up in Japan, I remember that I did the bean-throwing ceremony on the 3rd of February every year with my family in our house when I was a child. It’s a very fun time not only for me but also for my dog. I collected the beans scattered on the floor with my brother and we washed them and ate them after the ceremony. Although the dog was not allowed to eat the beans during the ceremony, there were always some beans left on the floor (behind the curtains, for example, ) and it was a great moment for him (the dog) to search and eat those beans after the day. 😊

In our Bhojpuri culture , we have also a similar festival which is celebrated after Diwali , On Goverdhan puja known as "Daridar khedna" . On this day , we wake up early and beat a bamboo made dish called "Soop" to run away the scrubby and evil powers from home .

That line you told "Rakshas bahar aur khush kismat ladki andar " , same line we saying on diwali like "Lakshmi andar aur daliddar bahar" means Goddess of Wealth (Lakshmi) in and Monster (Rakshas) out , we doing it with jute sticks by making it burnt by earthen lamps (deep) .
