Hey, thanks much for the help. I managed to draw a coveted license in the Red Oak district in Northeastern Lower Michigan this year. The season opens September 11, 2022. Good Lord willing, I will bag one. I have deer hunted for for over 20 years, this will be my first bear hunt. Again, thanks. God bless.

Very helpful video! My buddies and I are first timers in Michigan UP. Only issue is that we can use a barrel on private land, but no more than a 1" hole in it. I think we may be better off to dig a hole and cover it up with logs. I like the tip with the cell cam too. We have pics going to cell, but definitely don't wanna lose them lol Thanks for taking the time to make this and help beginners out!

Great video with a lot of good info. Thanks. In Michigan I think the DNR changed our relations again so we can't use barrels. Just depressions with debris covering.

wonder why no barrels?

Live in Maine and few years ago was talking to a hunting outfit in northern Maine and he used meat and guts of animals that were hit my cars as bear bait and all the bears they killed that year had worms, don't know if it was because of the guts or old meat or whatnot but glad you mentioned not to use it all the time. Have a fair amount of black bears in Maine, obviously more the further north you go but I'm sure being in Canada is a whole nother level. Is it super expensive for someone from Maine to hunt in Canada? I know you have to hire a guide service if your not a Canadian resident, but would really like to try it sometime in Canada.

This is what I need. Any tips on baiting a site only 2-3 days a week?
@NBWildman3 жыл бұрын
if you can only bait a couple times a week, just try and keep a consistent schedule, also in that case you might want to bait in a way that makes it a little more difficult for them to completely clean the barrel

What’s the idea behind never letting the bait go dry? Is the video of how to shoot the bigger ones coming soon?
@NBWildman3 жыл бұрын
if you let your bait go dry and bears show up a few times with nothing in the barrel they will move on. Would you like a video on how to bring in bigger bears?
@gabrielgarza58793 жыл бұрын
A video focused on bringing in bigger bears for those who are “experienced” bear hunters would be helpful I think. It’s always nice to pick up ideas from others. Thanks for sharing.

hopefully you comment, how should you bait in central MN with a lot of ag and swamp and forests, I get a lot of photos of bears using the edge of the corn to move, should I be putting bait on the edge? Thoughts?

If you have the landowners permission, i would bait as close to known activity as possible, however remember that most bar bait sights can tend to get messy and you don't want that spilling over into the crops, so will need to keep a little distance. I have found that bears are pretty easy, once they know where your bait is, they will visit...hope this helps

Why do you need a huge barrel, would a 5 gallon bucket work.
@NBWildman2 жыл бұрын
it would, but wouldn't keep any bears in the area, just not enough food

I’m hunting in Wisconsin. Could I use a frozen wild turkey to start baiting them with meat?
@bradgarner90872 жыл бұрын
No you can't use any meat or animal biproducts in Wisconsin. Look up the regulations on Google easy to find.

Once I put out my bait barrel in my spot for the first time, how long before I should check it before the bears feel comfortable?
@NBWildman3 жыл бұрын
depends on the bears in your area, i would say about every three days until it's hit, then a minimum of every other day if you want to use small amounts of bait
